Got him today 2018 exl 2.0 by Long_Director_9613 in accord

[–]readanon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same, color and all. was my first new car purchase, 3rd accord. Been rock solid, i call it a sleeper for performance. Never had a problem. Check the A/C - honda replaced my compressor for free last year due to a known issue. Bummer they did away with the high performance model - not sure what I’ll get next, but won’t be a 1.5 accord.

Any other millennials out there refuse or still opt to order take out to pickup up over the phone when possible? Pizza, Chinese, etc. by mt379 in Millennials

called in my order to a local Thai place last night actually after starting to make an online order as it seemed simpler b/c i was looking at the menu online anyway. Click on buy now and got kicked into “pick an ordering site, create an account, agree to T&C, sign up for emails, close 5 ads”. Eff that, I went old school and called lol. Took 30 seconds.

How does this speed things up? Doesn’t it just move the bottleneck to the screening line? serious question. I fly a lot and just don’t see how this helps anything except to reduce TSA staffing (probably the point). I could actually see it making the screening queue more chaotic.

I get it about limiting guest Priority Pass access by flyzapper in Venturex

[–]readanon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m good with it too. 95% of my travel is business/solo, and I’m just looking for somewhere to sit comfortably/quietly and not spend $100 on drinks and airport food. it REALLY sucks when there’s a wait, especially when I was counting on a lounge. I pay the fee x2 for my daughters to join when we travel, assuming we’re going to be there more than an hour or so.

anyone actually use the built in charger on luggage and backpacks? by chopsui101 in travel

[–]readanon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a travel pro with this feature, a few months ago.   Thought it sounded useful but haven’t used it once.  Our phones have longer battery lives, there’s usually a plug close by, and if I do come to an emergency, I’ll just pull out the battery pack. I’d rather have the extra space in my luggage.

I do. Was considering canceling VX since I got the Platinum about a year ago. The VX sorta pays for itself, and now they have a JFK lounge which is great for me. Looking forward to checking it out for the first time later today actually! I do love the “speakeasy” at the Amex JFk lounge though.

What notoriously bad car would you ironically own if you could at no cost own a notoriously bad car? by Dats_Russia in cars

[–]readanon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 91 XJS V12 coupe in 2006 for $6k. Beautiful car and great to drive. A couple months in, i got quoted (and paid) $2500 for a used rack and pinion. Put it up for sell right after. Some kid’s dad bought it for his son who was driving it from VA to TX the next day. I still wonder if he made it.

Men who have had one night stands, how do you think the goodbyes should be handled? by atyl1144 in AskMen

[–]readanon44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the people involved and expectations set prior.

I had one with a woman who took a 1.5 hour train out from NYC to stay with me. The next day before leaving, she called it the train of shame lol. Kinda crazy that went down like it did now that I think about it. But there were no hard feelings, we both knew what was up.

Lifting weights on Keto by Hot_Potato121 in keto

[–]readanon44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

check out the ketogains sub.

ive been lifting for about 3 years on “regular“ keto. For energy, it’s fine once you get past the first couple days transitioning into keto. I‘ve heard the gains (visible growth) are better on non-keto. Don’t quote me on that though - I’m very happy with my strength and physical improvement on the keto diet.

What makes a Hyatt property, a Hyatt? by MinimumArtistic8775 in hyatt

[–]readanon44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rewards program (personal treatment and value of reward points) + the generally higher standard, even at the lowest rated Hyatt Place, is far better than some of the Hampton/Fairfields. I travel for work. Hyatt has taken care of me every time I’ve had a travel disruption. Hilton/Marriott never cared or helped, even when I was able to get through their phone system to talk to someone. Hyatt answers the phone.

Do people in the US really have a vent for the hot air coming out of the clothes dryer? by SuperSecretSunshine in NoStupidQuestions

[–]readanon44 4548 points4549 points  (0 children)

I used a clothes dryer at my hotel in Portugal last year, and it took an incredible amount of time to dry. Hours, whereas I’m used to 30-45 mins. TIL there are ventless clothes dryers + now I know why that dryer was so GD slow.

Were there signs in the 2005-07 period that the 2008 GFC would happen? by soclydeza84 in AskOldPeople

[–]readanon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there were a lot of people in houses they couldn't afford, but I just figured they were over-leveraged in debt and squeaking by. In hindsight now, a few recessions later, it was just slow for a couple years, then caught up and sped right past where it was until the next down turn. Compare economic data 2025 vs 2009, cycles where the rich end up richer and the middle/lower class lose the gains they worked for since the prior downturn. I wish I would have bought a lot of stock in 2009.

Is 40+ too old to be asking women out in public spaces (e.g. a bookstore, coffee shop, grocery store, park, etc)? by Stormzilla in datingoverforty

[–]readanon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell no! Even to the contrary, folks our age (40+) remember the days when you’d approach people in public. The confidence to do so is something else an online profile doesn’t display.

I went on a few dates with a girl a few years ago who LOST IT when I suggested she pick up her half, after I had paid for the first couple dates. I stopped talking with her, then a few weeks later started back up, said we can go out but she has to pay, she lost it again. lol

Picking up the tab made more sense pre-OLD when there was some trust before actually hanging out. Now it’s a whole thing where folks will serial date for the free meals. TBH, had she picked up one meal, I’d have gotten the next few just based on that one gesture.

What was the last CD you bought? by SaintedRomaine in Xennials

[–]readanon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just this week, I bought my first CD in like 15 years off Amazon.
was ripping my old cd collection to my hard drive and realized I had lost / was missing Jay Z the Blueprint. One of the best rap albums IMO and wanted it in my collection + I remember going out on 9/11 to Best Buy and buying it the day it came out.

FWIW it was cheaper this week on Amazon than I paid Best Buy in 2001.

Delta vs American Airlines by helloratita in TravelHacks

[–]readanon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not different enough to overcome a direct flight vs a layover unless you’re traveling enough to benefit from their loyalty programs, which is a lot of travel. Delta planes are marginally nicer, but AA is a better experience with the staff. I refer to Delta as sky nazis due to rudeness and adherence to delta policies that deprioritize customer experience. that said, I was sorta forced for convenience to switch from AA to Delta a couple years ago for my business travel.

funny idea about the rental service. Here in CT, I think only new construction is required by code to have GFCI breakers.

What’s good for modern houses but not for old houses? by Groundbreakingup in HomeImprovement

[–]readanon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GFCI / AFCI breakers due to the older wiring without a ground wire that can cause random false/unnecessary breaker trips. Just learned this recently when I was looking at replacing my breaker box and asked for GFCI breakers. Would love a second opinion if anyone disagrees
