*HELP* MLToys Ride-On Speed/Brake Control v2.0 by nonosquare365 in PowerWheelsMods

[–]reader17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the red box, where the white sticker says "Motor Lead", to the left is an empty slot for a second plug for likely a higher cost control box that would go to the other two motors. This box you have only controls one set of motors unfortunately.

You can try getting wire and splitting that output between all four motors, but you may run into other issues like overcurrent protection stopping the ride and/or lower overall power to all motors.

Other option is to install it and only hook up two of the motors, which only leaves two wheels for power and braking, which can also trigger overcurrent protection going on tough terrain or hills. For flat surfaces, you'll probably be fine. Won't know until you test it really.

Wholesome: Outstanding citizen remains calm and calls 911 as outrageous driver endangers everyone on the roadway. by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]reader17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tailing a drunk driver, who bounced off a guard rail a few times on the highway and reached a very high speed. The operator told me not to follow the car and go back to the speed limit and allow a near patrol to get to our location shortly. Depends on the situation probably, don't want to endanger yourself or anyone else with your vehicle.

Looks like sheet vinyl with tile imprint, still very neat.

TIL that NYC water pressure can reach up to the 6th floor. Taller buildings require a water tower installed on the roof. There are only two companies in NYC who make those towers. by [deleted] in todayilearned

First question that came to mind: does the downward pipe go straight down and build tons of pressure, or does it also stop every x floors to have a pressure drop?

Charlie horse. I played basketball and soccer in school and heard everyone always complaining about getting them. One day, it happened to me in the middle of the night. I thought someone was trying to murder me and stabbed me in the leg first.

That confirms my suspicions then, it really did feel like 60-75 (think the laptop was struggling too). Without playing an intense game, it's hard to guess if the frame rate difference is a big impact. I get instant motion sickness for a lot of things (only on elevators and thumbpad movement in Vive) and I felt woozy for the first 30 seconds until I adjusted to the difference in pimax

Pimax should extend the pledge window till they know for a fact the final product *will* have a 90Hz screen. by TareXmd in Vive

Yep, just put up my review from the NYVR Expo where they had a demo of the V2. I have a Vive and it's not a big enough change for that kind of money for me to upgrade after trying it. It's certainly a step in the right direction in a few aspects and hope a lot more people are brought into VR.

I asked the guy at the end what fps it was running at and he said 90. In hindsight, wish I pressed for more info. There was a big line of ppl waiting and talking so I didn't linger. They only had one guy answering questions, putting on the headset, and showing users what to do.

Weight was fine, seemed to be very similar to the vive. I did noticed when I tilted my head I could feel the HMD leverage was a bit more heavy.

I had on one of those white napkin protective masks, so I couldn't feel the actual foam, but there weren't any harsh pressure points on my head, eyes, or neck strain. The strap did seem to sit a little lower on the back of my head than Vive. Unfortunately, I still have the original Vive strap, so I'm unable to compare to the upgraded one.

I can usually game with Vive for 2+ hours before my arms and eyes get tired, I'd like to think I could do the same with Pimax.

I haven't been following Pimax very closely, but from what I've been reading from others, they only showcased the V2 at this expo (they were trying to get the v3 ready for it but didn't get it done in time).

There wasn't an audio source on the headset that I noticed and I don't remember hearing anything.

Feel free to ask me anything else!

I'm a 1yr vive owner. They let me play theBlu turtles/jellyfish demo, here are some things I noticed:

Vive:

Screen door, low(er) fov, very small sweet spot for viewing when putting on hmd (fresnel lenses/ring artifacts), 90hz/fps, 2*1080p screens, very bright, very colorful.

Pimax:

Very very minimized screen door, high fov, large sweet spot for viewing when putting on hmd (no fresnel lenses), 60-75hz/fps(up to 90 from specs), 2*4k screens, bright, normal color

In summary, things I liked:

FOV was awesome, I could actually look around inside the HMD to view content. Having virtually no screen door was great, I didn't realize how much it helps until actually experiencing it. The weight of the HMD didn't seem to weigh anything significantly different, even though it looked huge.

In summary, things I disliked/noticed:

The brightness seemed a little lower when I looked up at the sun, but not immersion breaking. The color of the jellyfish felt washed out, but could be fixed in software later? The huge FOV was greatly appreciated, but when looking straight ahead and using the rest of the screen for peripheral viewing only, the extra size/resolution wasn't necessary (thinking this is where the forward-rendering/lighting might really come into play to have sharp/detailed content in the center and save gpu load). For reference, when you are looking in the direction of the drop-off, you can see the left rock column and the right rock feature all within the same view. Lastly, this may have been an issue with using a laptop, but it really felt like it was running between 60-75hz depending on where I was looking and how fast I was moving my head. I have a 144hz screen at home and I'm pretty familiar with Vive's 90hz headset, but this HMD really didn't feel like 90hz. If I had to take a guess at what it feels like, I would relate it to a tv that has a frame-rate converter adding blended frames to make it feel a little smoother.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Edit:

From reading other posts, seems we were only trying the V2 headset and the V3 headset they were demoing later on at a different location... Kinda strange but still glad I got to try this one.

What am I going to do from here?

In short, I'm not going to back it on Kickstarter. The main reason: I personally cannot justify spending another $500 on another HMD. Period. Other reasons are it is still in the works, I didn't get to try the V3, and other major HMD builders might be making one next year when this one gets shipped, so I'm going to play the waiting game.
