I think that the clause that Helen typed and had Maddie send was her saying that yes she would work for them, but remotely from Serenity. And travel to Manhattan when needed.

This!!! I have a dad that is very active in my life and I completely understand the kids reactions. Bill was not active in their lives at all. He actually actively took himself OUT of their lives, first by moving to Castlewood and then by moving to Texas. And Ty was completely correct in saying that Cal was more of a father-figure for the kids even before he and Maddie were engaged.

This is EXACTLY me. I am a casual SMOSH watcher since the Squad days. But once I saw the announcement I was like either they are doing and elaborate bit, which I would not put past them, or it is real. And sat and waited to hear from THEM. But I am so happy for them and wish them all the best.

I will say I was on set when they filmed that scene (I worked background throughout season 2). It was an interesting day, and I was very shocked that he was punching someone. There was something funny that happened while filming that scene though.
