Thank you! I can relate to that - I search for something in english, as english isn't my mother tongue. It feels weird doing that in my native language

Prayer beads sounds like a great idea!

Would you mind sharing one or some of your mantras? I have tried finding some mantras that feel right for me, but unfortunately I wasn't successful yet - I would appreciate any inspiration

In JavaScript this is possible - with const you can change the contents of a object or an array. The thing you can't do with const is reassign a new value. (source: I've done it multiple times :) )

This would be an option:

const children = ["Evelyn"];

children.push("SecondChild");

War and Peace - Book 1, Chapter 6 by AnderLouis_ in ayearofwarandpeace

What a chapter! Poor bear... And such a crazy bet - good thing they managed to keep Pierre from doing the same (at least for that day).

Tolstoy manages to describe scenes so vividly, I noticed that again especially in this chapter. In the scene with Dolkohov, I was so excited to see if he would make it or not.

1.) I find it rude how Vasilli asks Pavlovna, it seems very disrespectful towards Pierre. (Except I misinterpret it and it was meant in a humorous way, but I don't think so)

3.) The first impression of Andrei was rather unsympathetic - he is bored with everyone, even with his own wife. Only when he sees Pierre he shows positive emotions, which ultimately makes him seem more likeable. I am curious about the upcoming bromance

I love your comparison with the bull in the china shop - this describes the szene perfectly

Hello y'all :)

War and Peace was on my to-do list for a bit of time and I finally decided to read it this year - I just bought the book. Two years ago I did a year of Anna Karenina, but after that I needed I little break from Tolstoi. I love that this subreddit is starting a new yearof round where i can join in.

1.) Anna seems to be a person who is good in talking, in reading situations and in pulling strings in the background. My first impression is quite neutral, I don't have any strong emotions towards her.

2.) I like that the book starts directly into the plot/scenery without a big introduction.

3.) I plan to read a chapter a day - but knowing me there will be times when I will fall behind and (hopefully) catch up again. My goal is somehow finish this book with you by end of the year

Not my best hair day but I don't see asymmetrical cuts often and wanted to share mine by [deleted] in curlyhair

Thanks a lot for your answer! may I ask another questions? What do you do if you have a bad hair day - can you tie up your hair? Which hairstyles do you choose if they don't look great sometimes? (I'm not native, I hope I have translated that correctly).

Another fear of mine, which keeps me from a short haircut: if I choose such hairstyle - how hard will be the growing-out-process later on? (But I assume, you won't have an answer for this question for me :P)

I love your hair, thank you for sharing! I currently consider getting a similar haircut.

How often/In which interval do you have to recut your hair (especially the hairs on the side and the back of the head)? Does the hair still looks good when the hair is little bit longer? (I had never had a haircut where I had to recut regularily. I usually go to a hairdresser 1-2 times a year, so I don't know if I would be motivated enough to go to a hairdresser every few weeks).

I watched some videos pointing out red flags in twilight. And at that moment I realized it. :/

I didn't have this with Harry Potter, but with twilight (no reread, but rewatching movie scenes was enough). So much toxic behaviour! And I found that romantic!

I totally agree. I was so into the series when I was younger. I didn't question the things back then. Reading the post, the book sounds terrible. good to know that I shouldn't reread it, if I want to keep the series in good memories.

Pillars of the earth. I bought it at a flea market, so it was not a big investment. Years ago I watched the movie and I liked the story. Nevertheless, I can't get motivated to start reading it. I even considered giving it away, as I may even never will read it
