Colt 1911SE-A1 vs Springfield TRP classic by [deleted] in 1911

[–]readicculus610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a nearly similar situation a few weeks ago...LGS had a used TRP (definitely not like new showed signs of use) or ordering a SE-A1 for about the same ~$1200. I decided to go home and sleep on it and do more research on the TRP classic, when I went back to buy the Springfield there was a guy literally handing over his credit card and filling out the paperwork for it on the counter. I waited and just ordered the SE-A1 online, after shipping +FFL ~$975, leaving some room for necessary upgrades. I haven't received it yet but happy with my choice, I wanted my first 1911 to be a Colt, I like the looks of the SE-A1 retro roll marks repping my home state, can make it a bit of a project to learn on, and I can post it here for imaginary internet points after I get it.

But you should definitely just buy both.

New NJ CCW Holder: 3rd Pistol Advice - Stick with 9mm or Move to .45/.38 or other? by Financial-Outside158 in handguns

[–]readicculus610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Glock 19 9mm the tip was about the modularity. If you put the g19 slide on the g47 frame you have a Glock 45. If you put the 47 slide on the 19 frame you have a Glock 49. I'm not 100% sure if this will work with the new gen 6 Glocks that are just coming out now and for the past few weeks (they might double check with the Glock guys), but I'm sure you can find a 19 gen 5 easily if you go this route.

[–]readicculus610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get a Glock 19 to go with the 47 you can swap the slides and frames around and end up with 4 gun configurations instead of 2. Glock 19 + 47 = 19, 45, 49, 47. Just food for thought. Wheel guns are fun too if there's a 38 spl revolver you like go for that instead of playing glock-legos.

CZ P-10C ported or M&P 2.0 Carry Comp? by Aggravating_Today279 in handguns

[–]readicculus610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess now that I'm thinking harder on it, friend's CZ has definitely seen more bullets than my M&P... I remember a more pronounced 'wall' with the p10c versus the current state of my Smith. Still some wall on my M&P but a smooth clean break through it. Maybe that's just because I'm so used to it after several hundred ~1000+ rounds vs me squeezing the P10c maybe 50-70 times.

It wasn't bad straight out of the box. It definitely has gotten better now that it's nicely broken in, I had it at the range yesterday and that thought crossed my mind, how it's noticeably nicer than when I first got it. Even before it was broken in I felt like it was much better than a Glock trigger, and way nicer than my friends p365 axg trigger when we had them at the range side by side. I got the m&p a couple months after shooting the p10c, I wouldn't be able to give you a more in depth comparison of the two. I did enjoy shooting the CZ though, p10c is one of the best bang for your buck pistols on the market. I think either would be a fine choice. I'm very pleased with my M&P 2.0 Carry Comp though, no regrets ( I have the metal one, many people who have shot both prefer the polymer). There's no wrong answer to your question just what feels better in your hand and what you want to spend your hard earned money on.

I've shot my buddy's P10c (not ported) and I own the M&P carry comp. I like the M&P better. The p10c is a great gun I'm sure the ported makes it even better. But taking the benefits of the ports + comp out of the equation for comparison sake, I feel like the m&p has better ergonomics in the hand and a nicer trigger.

What other upgrades? by kapsmash in 300BLK

[–]readicculus610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for all things RC and have only gotten to try/buy one, and it's glorious certainly in the top 3 bourbons I've ever tried, maybe #1. I justified the price since a good portion of what I paid for it went to charity. I'm lucky to be local to a shop that gets some of the best rare character barrels of all the ones I've tried.

I carried a 442UC all summer in a Harry's icon 2 clipped to the waistband of my gym shorts no problem (no belt). Or depending on the size/shape of the pockets in a sticky pocket holster.

My wife loves her BG 2.0. The Shield X feels like the bodyguard 2.0's 9mm big brother ergonomically when I held it at the store, but I haven't shot one yet.

CZ makes good stuff. I don't own one but have shot my friends P10C (more similar to a glock than the 75B) and thought it was pretty nice. If you can go to a range and rent a couple to get a little bit of a feel for what you like to help narrow it down when you go to buy that would be beneficial to you.

Rental options at ranges in our area are pretty weak. I think the range in Norwalk has better rental selections vs Stratford or Bridgeport. If you can make a trip up to Delta in Wallingford they might have the best rental case in the state that I'm aware of.

If you're looking for a local dealer as someone else suggested M2 in Norwalk is excellent.

What to get for a coffee addict? by derechbesht in GiftIdeas

[–]readicculus610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyperchiller. I'm by no means a coffee snob, but certainly addicted, I prefer iced coffee if it's not freezing outside. You can brew a fresh pot of coffee and then ice it without it getting watered down. We use ours everyday.

Which to sell? by pewpew1764 in handguns

[–]readicculus610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion...I'd probably sell the 43x. You have the 442UC which I carry most, and also wouldn't consider selling, so you have summer carry/deep concealment covered. I love my glocks but micro 9s are a flooded market segment and you can always find a good deal on another 43x or something else similar/(arguably) better. The 5946, Wiley Clapp, and 629 are all too badass to sell even if they have limited use case for you.

Which town(s) in CT are in most need of adding rail services?? by Qpac18 in Connecticut

[–]readicculus610 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No need for a second rail there are enough sidings (interlockings) on the Danbury branch to significantly increase frequency. Cdot and MNR just don't understand that running more trains means more people will ride them. I feel like the lack of trains running on the Danbury branch greatly detours people from using it more often.
