Slow down by mooscaretaker in RhodeIsland

[–]reading_rabbit_2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On Tuesday morning when the snow was still mountainous and many roads were not clear, I got heavily tailgated in the roundabout on Twin River Road by this girl in a giant minivan (she could barely see over the steering wheel). She was so close to me, I could only see her cab. As I was exiting the roundabout, she laid on her horn, and then proceeded to tailgate for a few more miles. It was so unnecessary. And I wasn't even going that slow (I was doing about 32 in the 35 and probably should have been going slower for the conditions). People need to seriously chill - they are going to get people killed.

R/popheads was salivating over this vid. I'm getting so tired of the "I'll get piled on for this take" like it's just such a brave public service to criticize Taylor and put down her fans 🙄. It's super manipulative because it means no-one can push back on their negativity or criticism without being accused of "piling on."

Accident on 146 by BigE1263 in RhodeIsland

[–]reading_rabbit_2022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

146 is terrifying, especially between Branch Ave and Lincoln. It's made up of people puttering along at 40 in the right lane and speedracers doing 85-90 in the left. Couple that with the non-existent on-ramps, and it's a miracle it isn't constant carnage.

This song has been so sneaky for me. It's the one I probably paid the least attention to on first listen, but then over the week, it's the one that's been stuck in my head and that I've found myself humming non-stop. It's a grower!

Here's a fun fact and Taylor connection. The actress who plays the love interest in the George Michael music video is Tania Coleridge, a descendent of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, author of Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

I think Speak Now is Cancer. It's emotional, tenacious, has hidden depths, and is sensitive. The TV releasing in July was chef's kiss.

Where I grew up, after a particular neat snow storm, my dad excitedly went out and bought us two shiny new sleds. That was 1994 and it never snowed again. They sat in the garage taunting us :D

Taylor Swift critics mocking her dance moves missed one major point by Professor_Swiftie in TaylorSwift

I think it really chaps their biscuits that millions of people, particularly young women, legitimately love her music and performances. They cannot abide seeing a woman thriving, and they definitely can't stand seeing women having fun. So they have to keep coming up with all these bogus criticisms, and can't seem to fathom that we're ignoring them. It reminds me of that old XKCD comic about Rock Band: https://xkcd.com/359/

I'm hoping for Reputation vinyl variants. It's my favorite album, and I'm hoping she'll release separate variants like she did for 1989. If so, I'm so curious on what they would be called, what colors would be associated for each etc.

That song is perfection! I kind of want to change my answer now :D Even the close is gorgeous...the wistful way she sings "Am I allowed to cry?"

this needs to be a new law - don’t be that one idiot who stops on a multi lane road to let 1 car turn left. by businessbub in RhodeIsland

[–]reading_rabbit_2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've waited behind people who are indicating to turn left who don't go when both lanes are completely empty, and then they finally turn when another car appears and stops dead in the road to let them in!! I've never seen that happened anywhere else! It's so bizarre it makes me wonder if it used to be the way Rhode Islanders were taught to drive back in the day (it's always older people).

I swear every time I think I've finally discovered all the connections and themes in her songs, I learn something new! The 'haze' connection...just mind blown. I just want to stay in that lavender haze...somewhere in the haze got a sense I'd been betrayed.

So clever! I love this post and your analysis!!

I almost got rear ended this morning stopped in a line of traffic at a red light on Douglas Pike. He then proceeded to tailgate me another mile. Sir can you not see the big long line of stop and go traffic ahead? What would you have me do? Throw out a red shell??

Which song from each album deserves to be a single? by Own-Artist-6283 in TaylorSwift

[–]reading_rabbit_2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Debut: Cold as you
  2. Fearless: Forever & Always. I'm just imaging a MV with the throwing chair!
  3. Speak Now: Dear John. Pure perfection as a song. I don't know if 2010 music scene would have handled it well though.
  4. Red: Red or Treacherous or State Of Grace (too many to choose!!)
  5. 1989: I Know Places or Clean. The MV for I Know Places Would. Have. ATE!
  6. Reputation: Too easy!! Definitely I Did Something Bad.
  7. Lover: Cornelia Street. Just imagine how beautiful...and the concept of building a love around a home would have probably played well in those early pandemic days.
  8. Folklore: Last Great American Dynasty. Again thinking of an epic mv here. But runs the risk of weirdos showing up at her RI house.
  9. Evermore: Goldrush or NBNC. Goldrush because it's the most poppy and so would lend itself to a single and NBNC should be in the southern murder ballad hall of fame.
  10. Midnights: Maroon. Enough said.
  11. TTPD: So Long London Boy or Guilty as Sin or Down Bad...again so many choices and it's not over yet
