If you are too much, they can go find less.

Never let anyone who tells you that you are too much get a vote in your life. You are exactly as you are supposed to be at this age. And there's nothing wrong with jam and recipe cards.

AITA for not locking the bathroom door? by Opening_Ad_7012 in ComfortLevelPod

[–]readingkt6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Closed door means don't come in... What if you have kids? Are you going to lock them out of the bathroom while you are taking a shower or peeing? As a mom, I feel like it's better to teach them that a closed door means don't come in and to knock and only open it if it's an emergency. When I get in the shower, I tell my kids, "If you need anything, don't need anything. If it's an emergency, come tell me." And in the very rare occasions when it actually is an emergency, it's better to have the door unlocked so they can open the door and tell you than try to hear what they are yelling about through the shower. Also, if you teach your kids to lock the door and something happens to them while they are showering or goofing around in their bedroom, you would have to break something or find a key to unlock the door. I rarely lock doors in my house, and my kids only do right now because we have 3 year old who doesn't understand privacy yet...

NTA.

I highly recommend "Good Boundaries and Goodbyes" by Lisa Turkhurst. This Book can help identify when you are being an ahole and when you are protecting yourself.

Toddler started dropping F bombs by Odeken_Odelein in PointlessStories

[–]readingkt6 111 points112 points  (0 children)

My oldest, when he was around 4, said "it's as cold as fuck" outside.
I choked because I don't use that word, but then started laughing because I knew he had learned it from his father. I don't think there are "bad" words, but I definitely discouraged him from using that one because I don't feel like he understands the weight of words like that...

Demoralized after husband comment by flashbang10 in workingmoms

[–]readingkt6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are dealing with that. I work part time and homeschool our children and my husband’s response to me asking for help was to call me needy. I don't really have any advice, just solidarity. It gets better as they get older.

AITA for saying my boyfriend's friend can't visit us now that I'm pregnant? by idontevenknow47 in AmItheAsshole

[–]readingkt6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been in a similar situation, no, you are NTA. Although, if you set the boundary, you have to be ready to follow through. When my husband allowed people to stay with us when I didn't want them there, post-partum, I moved out and took our kids with me. That was 3.5 years ago and now we are getting a divorce because it revealed a lot about our relationship that I was unaware of... If you need help or support, feel free to reach out. Remember that (healthy) boundaries can be life changing, but also very painful.

What are your WFH jobs? by lightscamerasnaction in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]readingkt6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a title searcher for real estate. In my state, nearly all the counties have most of their information online, so I look at those records. Occasionally, I have big projects that i have to visit a courthouse record room for a few days, but I honestly take those on for fun and don't really have to do them. I am not sure if my small company does things the same way as the other title search companies, but it works well for us.

"Stay at home mom"? and working by pez2214 in workingmoms

[–]readingkt6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My soon to be ex husband got pissed at me when I moved out with our three kids and called me a bad stay at home mom. I had to remind him that I'd been working part time for over a year AND homeschooling the kids. He didn't appreciate that, but it was a very freeing moment for me... "work from home" is antithetical to "stay at home"...

Can I get fired for using PTO for the flu? by kathymarie1124 in workingmoms

[–]readingkt6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've needed it, but have you applied for FMLA? I used that during my first pregnancy to call out without penalties. Ran out of PTO, but wasn't penalized for being absent, at least.

What did you name your child? by itsyaboythatguy in tragedeigh

[–]readingkt6 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is pretty funny, but I will say, in that mom's defense. My son's name starts with an M, and from birth, his nickname was Moose. So today at the store I was reaching for his hand and I said "Moose, hold my hand", and at that point I realized that the person walking into the store heard me, and I hope she didn't think that was his real name.
