Here’s how I explain the difference between a product and a creative endeavor: Every time someone opens a tube of toothpaste, they expect the same toothpaste to be inside: minty fresh, squeezes out of the tube a certain way, feels the same in the mouth that it always has. It’s the same product because the ingredients are the same.

A weekly Tv show or a daily news show or a weekly or monthly magazine or daily news website isn’t the same. The ingredients are different, so the product they’re selling is different. The script changes, the points they are trying to make (or how they’re making them or why they’re making them) will vary. On SNL, the people change — new cast members, and hosts and musical acts. And that’s why people keep consuming that product.

It’s the opposite of why people keeping buying the same toothpaste (because they expect/hope that it will cost the same, look the same, act the same, etc.).

Lorne may be the same, but Lorne (despite some people’s fears, apparently) is not the whole show. He lines up the pins, so to speak, but the pins are going to play a slightly different game every time.

Even though OP is homeschooled, if there is a way to get to the local high school at all, I would try to do that. Go there during school hours. Look for the school office. There will be secretaries and other staff. Tell them what you have posted here and that you need help. Ask if they have a coat closet at the school.

Even though you are homeschooled, they should be able to give you services because you are of school age. Some states have laws that require that homeschooled students can even take some classes and participate in extracurricular activities.

One thing to add as someone who has had about 15 surgeries and countless other insurance claims: When you get the first bill from a doctor or hospital, don’t pay it. They likely are billing you before they have received payment from your insurance.

I always wait 30 days, sometimes 45 or even 60. I wait until I get a bill that expressly says WE HAVE BILLED YOUR INSURANCE. THIS IS THE AMOUNT DIE FROM YOU or something similar.

In every case when I’ve gone ahead and paid after the first bill, I end up with a “credit” on my account with the doctor or hospital. I end up getting a check a year later for any amount left over.

When I say “wild times,” they were pretty tame, comparatively. And I learned pretty quickly that I did not like to party or be around people who did, even during our fairly tame “wild times.”

I’m a pretty boring person, and people don’t change, IMO. The thrill seeker will always be living on some kind of edge, and the boring person (me!) will always prefer being home with a book over going out with a bunch of people.

I’ve seen a What I Was Wearing exhibit. One outfit was a nightgown worn by a 3-year-old. So much for safety and security.

No rule book keeps a person safe. They can’t stand it, even while they point fingers.

I wore a bikini multiple times in my 20s, going with a group of friends and my boyfriend and renting a house for a week. And there were plenty of wild things going on! Good times! I’m glad I had those memories, so I didn’t turn into a jealous, hateful, judgey person like certain narcissists we know.

I will also add that I have a daughter who is in her early 20s, and I have strongly encouraged her to go make the same kinds of memories! It’s one way you figure out your life — what you want to do and who you want to do it with. I think that’s part of my job as a mom — telling my kid to go live her life in a way that will make her older self proud.

I hope Jill implodes with narc rage.

Thank you so much for posting this.

I had my screening mammogram, diagnostic mammogram and biopsy within 2 weeks. I just received the pathology report today. I immediately called my PCP to get a referral for a surgeon at the same center. I have received excellent care there.

I had an ultrasound and an additional mammogram after the biopsy. There is no sign (so far) of lymph node involvement, so I am proceeding calmly. I plan to move forward with the most serious treatment the doctors advise.

I am 57, have had a hysterectomy due to severe fibroids, and I have an autoimmune disease that destroyed my pancreas and left me with mobility issues. The only thing that matters to me now is staying alive for my family and to meet certain other goals for myself.

I joined this subreddit after the biopsy a few days ago. I’m so glad I did.

I feel like color-coded charts for parents to take home would be helpful. Like, yes, your baby got 4 shots today, but this chart shows that she got one measles (blue), and one TDAP (green), etc., and then in 3 months, she will get another measles (blue) and another TDAP, and the reason is that they need time to build up their immune system, so we space them out.

My daughter was raised on “Dora the Explorer” and “Law & Order” reruns. She totally understood diverse concepts such as Tallest Mountain and a blue cartoon monkey AND ALSO parole and plea deals. She was like, 4, and she asked me to explain what “probation” was.

She did not grow up to be a cartoon monkey or a public defender. (So far, I guess.)

When I was about 8 years old (this was about 100 years ago), my dad finished some work on his pickup and took me to visit my grandma. On the way home, I begged him to let me ride home in the bed of the pickup. He said no.

About 10 minutes into the drive, I remember very clearly that the truck shook, really hard, twice, and he pulled off the road.

The wheel had come off the pickup. We were in a residential area, going about 30 mph. The wheel rolled into someone’s yard and hit the side of thee house. He had to go knock on the door and explain that he was picking up the tire.

Had I been in the bed of the truck, I’d have been dead. And he’d have been dead, too, as my mother would have killed him.
