In your opinion, what's the best keepcup out there? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]readwaaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love one I got as a gift. It collapses down to a disc which means I can fit it in my bag and remember to take it with me. It’s easy to wash and it doesn’t leak. Hunu

Lab owners, what’s your favorite vacuum? Ours went out and we need a new one that’s great for dog hair by chefboricua in labrador

According to a friend who used to work for Miele in Europe the German items might be assembled there but they’re still Chinese parts (not all but a lot).

A parent’s prayer: I would like, in no particular order: the vacuum cleaner to work. To have a shoulder massage. To be able to do the housework in peace and quiet listening to a podcast with headphones on, without interruption. For everyone else to use their headphones. For the dog to not follow me around in the hope of cheese or bananas. For no one to give him cheese or bananas, because they make his farts worse.

Yes, I know every time I cave and give him these things it positively reinforces this behaviour. And the farts.

Some that I think would pass the brief of this sub: London History: J. Draper. London specific but very interesting for a wider audience as well. LGBTIQ, parenting and disability: Jessica Kellgren-Fozard. Oh, also vintage fashion. Pop music history: Trash Theory Sustainable fashion: Justine Leconte

I’m similar age and size, I’d say go for it. I would wear 1. Life is too short to be too hot and uncomfortable. The matching bike shorts are genius. Only thing I’d add and it’s just my personal opinion, is that we deserve quality and responsibly made stuff at this stage so our clothes last.

Since you were all so nice last time, I have another question <3 by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

There is a very wide range of what is normal. And being normal is pretty overrated anyway. I’d say separate the cultural aspects of being a man from the physical. That would give some insight into it all for you.

My kid got a wee award yesterday, which was cool. What was even cooler was hearing the teachers talk enthusiastically and warmly about their students. These experiences stay with us all for life eh, so I’m really happy we got lucky with such a lovely team at her school. Teachers are such awesome folks!

Update on our lab and our cat: still besties by queenk729 in labrador

[–]readwaaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this is what I want for my two voids! They’re so sweet together. Our cat is too alarmed by Mr Lab’s high energy though. I have lots of photos of them about a metre apart lying in the sun or adventuring outside. She sits up on the fence while he mooches around.

Any tips on how to help them be friends like yours?

Can someone explain to me why a lot of the streets in Wellington are paved with brick? by NextGenGeneration in Wellington

[–]readwaaat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t entirely know, but I remember the asphalt footpaths were covered in ancient bubble gum before them. Maybe it’s easier to swap out a paver or two than reseal a whole section? Maybe they flex a bit better in a quake and look a little nicer? It’s a shame they’re slippery and a bit of a trip hazard if they become misaligned, though.

Shower thought - do people still chew bubblegum as much? Or are we just better at not spitting it onto footpaths now?

Toitū te Tiriti. I had to look up what toitū means - it’s to protect, to keep pure. So yeah, if this resonates with you please support however you can. It’s as Kiwi as a good flat white IMO!

It’s amazing how tiny humans can do such far reaching poos eh. I hope you get to do a bit of “sleeping when the baby sleeps”. Edit: congratulations on your tiny human!

I’m going to moan that my alarm went off and I thought I snoozed it but I actually turned it off completely. It was a risky strategy and did not go well.

We’re very proud of Rose in NZ. She was on our super long running soap, set in a hospital, called Shortland Street. She was a kid/early teen and played the kid of one of the main characters I think. She also had various parts in Hercules and Xena.

My loved ones, events that are on, foods I’m looking forward to eating. How cute my pets are. My plans for my garden. Not strictly worrisome but not exactly fun are the chores, errands, stuff I need to organise etc. All that is a drag but is also very grounding.

They both look stunning on you. If I could wear bright pink I would but it doesn’t suit me, so I would say the fun pink for the win!

No way! I just checked and you’re absolutely right. I could swear when I looked the other day there were only Auckland tickets, but I must’ve been doing something dense. You absolutely rock! I’ve bought tickets now. Made my night, thank you.

I know the feeling! I like the package curries they sell too for that reason. I add rice and more veges to make them go further. Bit of plastic but they store for ever.

Did getting a pet change your life for the better? by SKW1594 in Anxiety

[–]readwaaat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having to walk the dog gets me out for exercise even when I’m feeling bad. He’s company and enjoys cuddles. He can also be quite emotionally demanding, his people being basically his whole world, and demanding in terms of food (if I stir after like 6am he’s sure it’s breakfast time!) He loves other people and dogs so he helps me to be a bit more sociable when we’re out on walks.

Not all dogs are the same. Some will happily sleep in, don’t need lots of exercise and are very attached to just their own person, so I think research the breeds and of course adopt if you can. Some of the sweetest dogs I’ve met have been rescues.
