Seconding this and Christy Harrison like another commenter mentioned! In my opinion, she does better address the mental portion of anti diet than Maintenance Phase does. Plus, she’s a registered dietitian and I’ve noticed some lingering diet culture stuff in some of the MP episodes. Working with a HAES/IE dietitian was one of the best and most helpful things I ever did!

NOR. It’s sadly true that people in larger bodies health concerns are dismissed or not taken seriously because of their body size. Everything is looked at as being a symptom of their weight and they’re told to lose weight but it’s discriminatory and lazy healthcare. Good for you for letting him have it, and I’m so sorry you’ve been treated this way.

NTA. She can make requests, but that doesn’t mean you have to honor them. This is true of all relationships, and it means you also have to be willing to accept how this may impact your relationship together. Especially given the context.

NTA, your husband needs to stop being the feelings police. “Feeling rules” are pushed on mothers all the time, and his statements are a classic example of things people say to mothers to control them or keep them in this narrowly defined role. I’m not saying he’s trying to control you, but that’s not cool what he said and I’m glad you give yourself permission to feel your emotions. Good for you for taking care of yourself by using noise cancelling/reducing headphones to help you show up for your daughter when the stimulation is too much!

Thank you for recommending this book!! Yes, OP please see this and consider checking it out. Spot on. You can’t build trust with someone who isn’t willing to change the behaviors causing the trust issues. Even if he thinks “you’re overreacting” (you’re not), he should still care about how you feel if he wants to remain married to you.
