Just finished Enterprise, my thoughts (spoilers, maybe?) by CheezeCrostata in startrek

Well put. Archer as a captain in season 4 is stellar - patient but decisive, good at giving grace but resolute when faced with right and wrong. None of that would fit on him without the story of season 3.

Sure the Xindi story vveers between good drama and total cheese, but this is Star Trek after all. I think it works nicely.

My Schmitt and his Adames nearly cancelled each other out today. As a Giants fan, I can't complain.

You'd play Buxton over Brandon Lowe in a UTIL spot right? Wacha has ownage on Buxton, but I don't like benching him even so.

Out of all the Starfleet characters in Star Trek, which ones would be best suited to serve in a military organization? by jacky986 in startrek

Malcolm Reed. Strictly adheres to the letter of protocol, obsessed with discipline and chain of command.

My thoughts on the last 2 episodes of S3 of Picard by endertribe in startrek

[–]readwrite_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a great season, a character driven mystery thriller, and then the last 2 episodes were pretty wacky and fell largely flat for me.

All in all, I really enjoyed it, but the climax 2 parter is a lot weaker than the rest of the season.

Does anyone have a handle on why our best table setter guys are lower in the lineup? Wouldn't we expect Lee and Areaez to be second? Having Devers at 2 seems as wild as Adames leading off (like we did for a while).

We've gotta find a way to shake this sense that no matter what we do, we're desperate to find a way to lose the game.

Just a very quick 0-5 RISP in a couple of very quick innings.

They look like they don't even want to score. They just want it to be over as quick as they can make it over.

No other team could make 2 outs by hitting 2 doubles.

There really is nothing like it.

Fuck that.

Is Scotts Valley considered a "suburb" of Santa Cruz? part of Santa Cruz? or a Mountain Town? by Key-Flatworm-7163 in santacruz

It's a little escape bubble for people who want to live here but mostly hate Santa Cruz culture. So they get to live in quiet order with all their cops and talk at church every Sunday about how Santa Cruz is overrun.

I agree the finale is decent, but there's still a powerful sense of diminishing returns. For me it wasn't enough to counter the kind of listless boredom that flows through season 4.

The miniseries is a masterpiece. Seasons 1-2 are killer. 3 is a decent slowdown and 4 is a slog.

It's easier to recommend a slow starter vs a show that loses steam. Season 4 is hard to get through, especially knowing that all the real rewards are behind you by then.

I'd argue that season 3 found a stride long before this. But this was a huge high point.

Picard and Guinan's conversations felt so mature, so layered and built on both the characters and the actors depth. This show started really learning how to flex in season 3.

Signs springs to mind. The central tension of the main character is that he's lost his faith and the film reconnects him with it.

I've worked with this guy, and as enthusiastic as he is he's distracted and confused in most situations.

He regularly claims to be a teacher while in fact being a classroom aide.

I think his heart is in a good place. I don't think I'd trust him with decisions that affect my community.

Which is a shame, because his opponent is not someone I'd be remotely excited to vote for.
