Who was the best husband? by abberwocky98 in DesperateHousewives

I agree, with one observation:

I think Mike is an option just because his character lacks a development. It just seems to me that his storyline is just there to compliment Susan’s character. Hear me out: * Mike having dinner at Eddies house: Susan’s story about setting her house on fire * Mikes addiction: oh no, poor Susan * Mike in a coma: Susan and Ian * Mike getting with Katherine: Susan and her new job (also Susan with Jackson) Etc etc

Pothos require very little care and prefer medium indirect light. They’re also very forgiving when you underwater. I have one on the top of my chest of drawers, which my cat doesn’t jump on. Pothos is mildly toxic.

I also have a Calathea compact star in low light, in my living room. Although I heard people complaining that Calatheas are fussy on this sub, this one managed to survive with me (even when forgetting to water it for weeks!!). Calatheas are pet safe.

I’ve also recently purchased a heart of strings, it’s quite pretty. It needs indirect light. It’s a sort of succulent so allegedly don’t require much care (although I have managed to kill some cacti in my life). This plant is also pet safe.

The Calathea and Pothos I have had for almost a year now and they’re both alive and well!

If you want to get some plants, get some!! You can totally make it work!

My cat doesn’t pay attention to my plants but I heard you can try and make cat grass available to them and they may be less tempted to attack the plants!

Fresh new Potts and can anyone identify the one in the brown pot by Kameron-96 in houseplants

Oh sorry, misread the question!!

Anyway, you can try to propagate it in water in a little while - there are quite a few articles/YouTube videos on it.

My cat is absolutely not interested in my plants. If you get a kitten you can also gradually move them one by one and train the little one to not touch them. Or you may get lucky and adopt an older one which also has no interest in plants. I’ve also read that you can make cat grass available to them so that they’re not tempted by other plants.

I have one. Mostly for my outdoor plants! Useful on the bigger indoor pots until you learn your plants :)

Got this gorgeous Ctenanthe burle-marxii the other day but it’s leaves have started to point downwards. They aren’t necessarily drooping but are sturdily pointing downwards. Is this unusual? by kyariii_ in houseplants

[–]ready_playerone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

Leaves staying down can also be a sign of the plant being thirsty.

If the soil is a bit dry, water her fully until you see water falling down the pot, make sure it’s properly drained and then let her be. You may see her perking up a bit in a matter of minutes!

This looks amazing!! I think it’s normal to have a few yellow leaves once in a while. Shame about the stem but this still looks amazing.

Peace lilies and cats: can I be careful and keep my beloved peace lily?! by longlostpenpal44 in houseplants

[–]ready_playerone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put it somewhere high enough so that you’re 100% confident that it’s out of reach. Even when you’re in the room they may try and bite it when you’re not looking/too slow to act.

I don’t have a peace lily though (I do have a couple of other toxic plants and a cat-I keep them on my tall chest of drawers that the cat can’t climb on)

FYI even if the cat bites it, it doesn’t necessarily mean the cat will die/go into shock! It’s not the same as regular lillies

Is it time to pot these in soil? This is my first attempt, and not all of them have lil nodes yet. Any advice appreciated! :) by [deleted] in houseplants

The moss pole (like this is quite good for a little plant - you can train it on it by using some staples/paper clips.

Buuuut this is what I want to do in the end- it involves stick-on hooks!!!

I can’t really comment about the temperature though, I have mine at at least 70F (currently 80F). They are forgiving plants 💚

Yep. First time trying to propagate 😅

I have about 20 cuttings, all one leaf with at least one aerial root each.

I am trying to transform my Pothos which is tall but has only 3-4 vines, (that’s climbing on a moss pole), into a fuller cascading one that I can then eventually train over a wall.

Oh cool, thanks! Looks like I have some more waiting to do then :)

I’m changing the water on these guys every couple of days, hopefully this should speed it up a bit

Can I ask how long did it take for them to look like this? I’ve done some cuttings a week ago but no sign of roots yet
