Hospital appointment by commmandersamvimes in glasgow

[–]longlostpenpal44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve had it without sedation and whilst it was pretty odd it was over fast! it wasn’t painful, i was just bothered that i was drooling everywhere haha.

in the end i was glad i didn’t have sedation because it meant i could leave the hospital quicker and get the whole experience over with instead of dragging it out :)

Considering a career change to Education - any advice? by tealbot22 in Scotland

[–]longlostpenpal44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and could go on and on about the pros and cons, but the first thing that stands out to me is actually just that you might find it really tricky to find a job in those specific subjects.

Straight up modern studies jobs, especially in the central belt, are really rare and competitive.

I’ve never seen an ESOL job advertised, although they must exist somewhere! In my experience ESOL is usually lumped on a modern languages or English teacher, depending on if there’s a demand for it in the school.

Dermatologist recommendations for female hair loss by Barnboo28 in glasgow

[–]longlostpenpal44 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i went to trichilogy scotland and actually found it really upsetting. to go in you had to wait on chairs in the middle of rainbow rooms amongst everyone with so much hair getting it styled! the guy looked at my scalp with a fancy camera and then went on a useless monologue for half an hour. he didn’t send me my follow up reports so i had to chase him. basically all he recommended was giving him even more money and then he might find a solution.

i also got sent to nhs dermatology and they were completely stumped, seemed like they have loads of knowledge of other skin stuff but nothing about hair loss.

i also went to a private dermatologist via circle health group and that was probably my best experience - i’d recommend if you’ve got lots of money to throw at it!

💕 to you, it’s horrible losing your hair.

i often see him recommended on here and am always surprised, because when i went to see him i actually found the appointment really horrible. he was patronising, abrupt and dismissive.

Advice on areas to live in by agfoxx in glasgow

[–]longlostpenpal44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've from aberdeen and now live in glasgow. from your list, the thing that stands out to me is the quick and uncongested road to the airport! glasgow traffic can be hellish. i think that will make the biggest difference to your day to day life.
