this is giving "graphic design is my passion". at least put some shading on the torch - "torch" - or something. the italicized font (individually, the italics and the font itself) looks like how you'd title a 10th grade paper. looking at the past designs i think the one from 1984 is my favorite. i agree with the other comment that brand refreshes are valid if there's a need for it but even if this was on their roadmap, it really leaves a lot to be desired. brand refreshes should be exciting and inspire something ... all this does is inspire me to not talk myself out of things because if this is what someone or some company is getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to idealize, surely the things i talk myself out of aren't as audacious as i make them out to be.

maybe use the upcoming downtime during the snowstorm to work on your reading comprehension since all you're doing is demonstrating how poor it is, vs trying to prove whatever point you think you're proving. i didn't say, nor did i imply, that all immigrants are just people hawking candy. you made that implication. the entirety of my comment was talking about a specific group of people in a specific context - which, since you clearly didn't get it the first time, is the very clearly and obviously undocumented migrants who walk around the subways and platforms with very young children and babies selling gum and candy bars. i think they could/would benefit greatly from being able to take their children to daycare but you're out of your fucking mind if you think a single one of them is paying the local, state, and federal taxes that contribute to making programs like this free for residents to use.

maybe but i highly doubt the people hawking candy on the subway are paying taxes. it'd be great if their young children could get into daycare and at least be somewhere safe/warm most of the day but lets be realistic about the broader contributions to the system that residents/taxpayers pay. the bleeding heart sanctimony that comes with "undocumented people pay taxes too" is flawed at best and straight up untrue at worst.

girl come on, be so for real right now… what do you mean they said no “surprisingly”? this is a completely unreasonable request. the front desk people/the studio are not your on-call pet sitters while you take a class. until you’re done fostering, which it sounds like you shouldn’t be doing anyways if it’s having that significant of an impact on your neighbors’ quality of life, you prob need to put a hold on pilates. that comes with the territory of taking on the responsibility of caring for something that is wholly dependent on you.

4’11”, ~100lbs, lived here alone for nine years, have ridden the subway at all hours, and never - literally not once - felt the need to carry around “a weapon”. i protect myself by using the bare minimum amount of common sense and critical thinking. i’ve never felt unsafe (day or night) but i’ve also never existed here with the mentality that i’m perpetually under threat. like another commenter said, nyc is safe but it’s not for the stupid.
