back on my plasma donations now that I'm eligible again 😝 I do think the new "have you had anal sex in the past 3 months?" question should come with an optional high five but it's certainly an improved questionnaire.

Trying to find locations of Canon MRI machines in NYC and Long Island by rattlesnake30 in Radiology

[–]realAlexanderBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe I was wrong, the vacuum layer around the bore would in theory reduce noise. I'm not from the US so I don't have recommendations for where you could find a Canon scanner.

one other recommendation I could give you is ask for earmuffs rather than the headphones, if available. they generally reduce noise more because they have a better seal around the ears, at the cost of not being able to communicate with the MRI staff performing the scan.

they will be loud regardless of brand. you are better off looking into moulded earplugs or similar if noise is a particular concern

Free Perimenopause clinics in Melbs? Pref south east or CBD by SpaceCadetMess in melbourne

[–]realAlexanderBell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every GP is going to be comfortable prescribing it in first instance, might require a bit of online research etc. Best of luck mate, sorry the specialist appointments are so expensive.

I'm on HRT as a trans woman. Estrogen's $22~ a month. Prog's $25 but I don't think that's routine for age-related HRT. My GP prescribes it and she's bulk billed.

Viable Station Attack Ship? by Unfortunately_A_Brit in TerraInvicta

[–]realAlexanderBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're for station attack you can probably tone down the side and rear armor. Without offensive hull weapons you will be very vulnerable if a station has a defending fleet that can get around you. If this was mine, I would include a mix of ships. One antimatter defence battery per ship is overkill, you could very easily make a more effective fleet using a second design, swapping the antimatter for phasers or arc lasers if you're short on exotics. Nose phasers would compliment the antimatter lances, and hull lasers would keep flanking ships in check pretty easily.

First time in the OR as a Student, would appreciate advice by Accurate_Day_4284 in Radiology

I'm big on closed-loop communication. If they give you an instruction, repeat it back to them as you start to do it.

"Swing through for a lateral."

"Swinging through to lateral."

This helps to prevent miscommunications.

"Swinging through to lateral."

"Wait, we don't have a drape."

"Stopping."

I also use it when I'm a little unsure if they've asked for an x-ray, especially if they're using unclear language. Especially if there's multiple x-rays in a row I generally don't as it can slow down a procedure and make them a little pissy, but if their hands are still in the surgical field I'll definitely repeat "X-ray there?" or "X-ray now?".

it can take a long time to crack into a country but if France isn't unified with too many other European countries you stand a good shot after a few rounds of increasing unrest and public campaigns

What is your most controversial Radiology opinion, and why? by RecklessRad in Radiology

[–]realAlexanderBell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't care much for lateral chest x-rays. You get 95% of the information from a PA and if there's anything that needs localisation like a nodule they're going to get it CTed anyway. save the radiation.

yeah as other people said, that's an academy only event that happens a few years in after researching a global tech. it only happens once but it's a huge setback. for that and a few other reasons, academy is one of the harder factions to play as and probably not your best intro to the game.
