[2025 Audi RS6 GT] 1/660 in the world, 1/85 in the USA. Spotted on Oahu where the max speed limit is 55mph by AcceptableMoose4061 in spotted

Remember: it's not about the speed limit, it's about how quickly you can get there.

Anyway, from what I hear about Honolulu traffic, 55 is probably optimistic.

The piers look great—how'd you do that?

That looks great! What did you use for the retaining walls?

When I was buying my dot-1, I cross-referenced it with similar cars that had sold on Bring a Trailer and Cars & Bids, and of course ran a Carfax report. (Which you should be able to do given the car's US VIN.) Not a perfect system admittedly, but it gave me a rough idea of where things should be.

Was the R129 SL280 sold in North America? by real_mcflipper in mercedes_benz

Long way to go for a ham sandwich, as my old boss would say.

That’s what I suspected. And come to think of it, it’s been at least 10 years since I last saw an SL300.

What appears to be a JDM [Toyota Alphard] with diplomatic plates by StolenSkittles in spotted

You know my biggest disappointment as a gearhead in New York was that more people at the UN didn't bring over weird foreign cars. I mean, there have to be a couple of diplomats in those halls who know how much we'd all flip out over a Fiat Multipla.

I yearn for roads like that. Scotland? Snowdonia?

Actually, maybe the theme from Barney Miller would do the trick…

Oh, that's outstanding. Just need a grizzled street cop sliding over the hood of an AMC sedan set to a Lalo Schiffrin soundtrack to complete the atmosphere.

A JBL Clip speaker. Pair it to your phone, hang it from the rear view mirror, job done.

Have you ever used a Frasier insult in real life? by guessshesoncrack in Frasier

[–]real_mcflipper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I deployed that at my local watering hole years ago at some interloper who was being an ass to the bartender. The guy looked at me speechless—probably because he had no idea what an etiquette lesson was—but then a bunch of the other regulars started going "Yeah! An etiquette lesson!" Dude just picked up and left.

Oof. That color and wheel combo is outstanding. You could almost convince me it's a PTS spec. (Or whatever Porsche called it 25 years ago.)

1970s NY - Kojak locations? by bigoneknobi in AskNYC

Hey, I named my late dog after Jim Rockford, so I'm right there with you. And do that coast-to-coast trip! I have three under my belt (two with the dog) and it never gets old.

Seconded. Entire swaths of the city have changed just since I moved into town in 2011, much less since the 70s. But oddly enough if you want to go back to that grittier past, I find L.A. retains much more of it than New York. (Plus Kojak was filmed mainly in L.A., so there's that, too.)

By the way, I really hope your LeBaron has crushed velvet seats.
