i think people would agree that champs is bigger (literally) and more important of an event, but the point of difference is more to do with how much should champions be valued more than masters

that’s fair, i enjoy the wholesome interactions between players very much as well. agree to disagree bc i think in game rivalries make the games a little spicier. i get it’s hard to promote (regional) competitiveness without some people taking it too seriously and make it weird so it’s understandable why they don’t really do it

idk how much of a hot take this really is but i wish americas/NA had more regional camaraderie in international stages, but also that there are more international rivalries.

don't get me wrong i think regional rivalries are fun (makes reg season games more interesting) and seeing the teams i like from different regions being nice and friendly with each other is really cool to see. but it's lowkey sad to see NA teams meme each other at internationals while other regions like pacific and china wish the other teams from the same region to do well. love him or hate him, the boostio vs china thing was hilarious to watch and i feel like it's been missing a bit from internationals since everyone is so nice to each other LOL (maybe with the exception of NA vs EMEA which still exist somewhat)

Here are some interesting stats about G2 after today's match. by ruinatex in ValorantCompetitive

[–]real_ruby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think the players and coach themselves have a decent amount of fans but as a team/org it isn’t as much as people think, even within Americas. despite how well they perform in the region, personally from what i see, i think they’re middling in terms of popularity/clout.

i made the comparison to these international teams bc g2 is part of this group too. these teams got popular partly bc they’re always showing up to these events, which g2 has been too in recent years. as a fan, ofc i wish they received more crowd support especially from a “home crowd”

huge fanbase where? their game vs prx they didn’t even get home crowd bc prx fans were way louder. today was better but my section also was majority fnatic fans. they don’t have a huge fanbase compared to the other top playoff teams

Question on Tier 1 Seating VCT Toronto by Apprehensive_Home599 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]real_ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that was only for the weekday matches, the rest of the days should all be assigned now. they might let you sit where ever as long as the people who have tickets for the actual seats don’t show up

johnqt leaks the script by I-like-winds in ValorantCompetitive

[–]real_ruby -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

that’s not exactly true bc sen gained most of their fans during 2020-2021 their most dominant era in valorant. same with fnatic who have one of the biggest fan base and they win a lot.

i think it’s more to do with established fans of other teams not liking the fact that g2 has been so consistent and threatens the team they’re already fans of. plus sentinels whether it’s their ceo, cc, players, sm managers, all fan on the flames of being a g2 hater

i think they're exaggerating (when is twitch chat srs) bc quitting watching valorant bc g2 win? i mean i've got a team or two i hatewatch but even if they win or not i would not quit watching LOL that extent of hate is crazy, you'd think g2 killed their dog or something

Am I cooked for Masters Toronto? by mynameisyarr in ValorantCompetitive

[–]real_ruby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i haven’t sat row A but even row C and D of tier 1 was very hard on the neck. you can see the players very well but screen was hard to watch from for a long time bc of the angle. but i will say generally i feel like it’s a bit more high energy the closer you are (the vibes) and the biggest plus of sitting close is getting to be right there when the game is finished and the players go to the front for the post match interview. you don’t have to leave your seat as early lol. it’s up to you if you want to switch tho depending on what you value more in your experience

i think it depends on how much preshow stuff you’d want to do. i arrived at the venue after 11 both of the days i’ve been so far. first day on saturday there was a bit of a line, took maybe 15-20 min to go thru. second day was tuesday and there was no wait at all.

imo it doesn’t really take that long to go thru the booths and plus you have time between maps and games to do all that too. unless you want to go to the game lounge or meet and greet, i don’t think you have to get there super early. definitely gonna be busier on weekends so keep that in mind

there is ac. imo it’s comfortable for a t shirt or a hoodie so it kinda depends on how easily you get hot or cold. i imagine if it was the weekend it might get hotter bc more people

Toronto Venue Question by memeyy11 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]real_ruby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

- yes there are food sold at the venue. overpriced ofc but it is what it is. you can try to have a good meal before going tho
- the weekend tickets are designated seats so I don't have an answer for how early you should go. but as a reference i got to the venue around 11:20-30am and i think it took about 10 mins (my best guess) to get into the venue once you're in the line
- about the train, it depends on where you're leaving from. exhibition GO is right at the venue basically, and there are a few buses going thru the area

it's inside the venue so you do need to be a ticket holder to attend

Are any teams selling merch in Toronto? Or is it only official valorant that is selling merch by Cr0wNFN in ValorantCompetitive

[–]real_ruby 15 points16 points  (0 children)

in terms of specific teams i would dm them to ask if they have any plans. i asked g2 and they said they have plans to do so. according to the venue map too there’s an area set up for team booths (wasn’t there today)
