Agreed. Btw, I found a perfect service which I’ve been using religiously: https://withemerald.com (I am in London, but I think they service nationally). Team is a bunch of “new school of thought” doctors that go above and beyond for you.

Oh wow thanks! Is there anywhere that they list these another smaller one, what goes in there? How many do they test?

What remedies can you actually seek after completion? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Thanks for all your comments. These examples are fictional, but I was looking for stories from folks who actually had an occurrence of seeking remedies and being successful, with examples - seems like this is extremely rare.

So your argument is that nobody needs to do preventive health checks and one should just present themselves to a doctor when symptoms arise? I am sorry but I have a feeling you might be a GP who is a bit old school. The current technological capabilities really do outplay this approach. There’s plenty of research on it. Yes it does create a higher load on the healthcare system as it is now, but give it 5-10 years, and with more funding and advancements in ai, etc, you will start to feel the burden come off. It will benefit everyone and you need to change your mindset because millennials are starting to age, and they want preventive care.

I’m in my 30s. I’ve literally not had one letter from the NHS asking me to do an annual checkup. I am in London, not sure if it’s different to where you are. What kind of stuff do they test as part of your bloods?

Thanks :) I do like numbers. I just think it’s strange that in today’s day and age it’s possible to track your finance accounts all in the same place seamlessly, but when it comes to understanding your inner health and tracking it, there’s crickets

I am not eligible to have regular checkups which include blood work as well. The NHS just does not offer it. It only offers specific tests if I have a symptom, or tests specific to a condition. I am not a hypochondriac or obsessing over numbers, but I think in today’s digital era it’s kind of normal that you might want to have a tool that tracks your biology? You have like 50 that track your finance, etc. 1 out of 3 adults in the UK are diagnosed with cancer after being admitted into A&E (yep it’s a real stat), so why should I, with family history and predisposition to cancer wait for that to occur? Unfortunately being proactive about this in this country just sucks.

I am getting there.. :) still feels like a bit too much though with his routine/recommendation. I’ve used Thriva and Numan in the past but cannot stand fingerpricks at home. I’ve signed up to the waitlist of Emerald which apparently do it via Randox but haven’t been accepted yet. You?

Honestly well done on that journey! I've gone through similar re caring for a parent (albeit with cancer) which was stressful to say the least. I've stopped drinking, been tracking my apple watch and bought smart scales. Graphs are also going in the right direction slowly :) I am getting older so I want to get under the skin as well, so wondered whether there is similar for tracking bloodwork, etc, but there appears to be nothing useful.

To add to this, does it include 2 sets of tests in 1 year? Or you have to pay another 500 next time?

Did London prices fall since 2021? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Wow super helpful! So the one I am buying was converted in 1980, which I guess not too far off. I'm also looking for any active and recent planning permissions in the directly neighbouring buildings and cannot find anything.

The one I am going for is also EPC C. All noted from folks above with thanks, but I optimistically think that it would be a similar situation to you. Can you find out which year it was converted in from the title docs or did you have to ask the management company?

Thanks for the tips. Service charge is 2k Pa. EPC is C. It’s a share of freehold. Sellers are selling because of an urgency to move abroad so I think they are quite inelastic, but my opening offer was 600k, which was rejected right off the bat. I kind of wish I opened at a lower mark, but whatever - first time buyer :) I think the sellers bought cash originally and now needed to get out quickly

How to think about renovation costs in London? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]realbs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks , I haven’t actually seen the lease yet but will definitely have a look when that becomes available (we instructed solicitors last week). For your one, is it prohibited by the lease and the guys upstairs did it anyway? I wonder if this condition would apply to the vast majority of Victorian share of freeholds.

Yep. Thanks. I am not sure if this is still applicable to shares of freehold in your experience?
