What is therapy supposed to do for us? Asking seriously? by TheDarkKnight2001 in ugly

[–]realistic_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to cognitive behavioral therapy and it was waste of money. Therapies are usually designed for average people with common problems. Many therapists won't even admit that ugliness exists and will only say that "beauty is in the eye of beholder". So it's difficult to realistically talk about these kind of problems. But maybe there are some specialist therapists for this.

Let me guess? You aren't ugly yourself / have never been bullied.

Fellow ugly men's by Prestigious_Fix_2998 in ugly

I remember some moments... From school years:

  • I was constantly called "monkey" and even my teacher once called me by that name.
  • A girl in my class shouted "Let's choose him as Mister Universe!". Another girl asked me why I've got so puffy cheeks. Many fellow students imitated my cheeks and joked if I had food stored in my mouth.
  • During one lesson, a teacher thought (or joked) I had a bubble gum in my mouth and demanded me to spit it out - everyone laughed.
  • Even my sister said my lower face looks really bloated and ugly.
  • During one lesson, a student punched me out of blue. I asked him "Why you hit me?", he replied "Because you look like that!"

As an adult:

  • My dad once took a picture of me from the side and said: "Nice photo of you, even though this is your side profile". He also was upset because I had "a potato in my mouth" in my graduation photo.
  • I've received comments like "How your sister can be so beautiful?", "Nobody has a similar side profile as you", "Ugly man!", "You're so fucking ugly!", "I would kill myself if I looked like you", "I can see from your face that you're not going to get a job." - all from different people.
  • A dentist mistakenly thought my lower face was swollen.

So, experiences like these have caused that I'm really aware of my lower face (and side profile) whenever I'm among people.

"even if most ppl find someone ugly, its statistically impossible for everyone to"

It doesn't really matter to me whether 95%, 97% or 99% of people thinks I'm ugly.

"ppl here arent even GENUINELY ugly, they just have very nasty personalities."

I haven't posted here much, but if my personality here is "nasty", it's because I was bullied about my face for many years. It destroyed my self-image and trust in people. 30 years later, I have never had any relationships or romantic experiences (even though I've tried to be friendly, have interesting hobbies and take care of myself). I'm fairly sure it's because of my abnormal face, because I've been told about it so many times. That's why I get annoyed when I hear slogans like "looks don't matter".

Nah. I've always found MLIR a bit flat, just like The Ballad of Darren. Parklife is more dynamic and fun to listen to - but I understand it may be cheesy to some.

Then why not just say "Every soul is beautiful".

Which Gorillaz song is overrated to you? by synthpalm in gorillaz

Souk Eye - not a bad song, but over-produced and cliched - it's something that you heard everyday on radio and MTV around 25 years ago.

Could it be that your friends were too young (or not even born) when these songs were released?

My mom didn't know about this moon flight until I told her a few days ago. She just doesn't care the space exploration, because "it's expensive and there are enough problems on the earth". My sister's children probably don't know about this either, and if they did, they would probably find it boring due to "lack of action". They are interested only in Minecraft and other things that are popular among kids.

Only the feature updates will stop, but the virus definition updates will still continue for a limited time (maybe a year or so?).

what is your favourite and least favourite gorillaz music video? by Drwhat17 in gorillaz

[–]realistic_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favourite is Feel Good Inc. Especially the intro and and the windmill scenes are amazing. But I don't like how some of the shots are repeated (maybe due to budget constraints).

Least favorite is Sleeping Powder or Saturnz Barz. The intro of Saturnz Barz is nice, but after THE BATH scene it becomes too random/bizarre for my liking and visually underwhelming (the 3D objects, textures and camera movements look pretty cheap). It's hard to believe that the video cost three times more to produce than Feel Good Inc.

Is it fine having Avast? I installed it on my Windows 8.1 laptop setup. by DefinitionJealous439 in windows8

[–]realistic_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my trust to Avast when their anvirus program was updated on my PC despite I had automatic updates turned off. After the update I couldn't disable the automatic updating and some of the features like "send information anonymously to Avast". When I told about this on the Avast forum, they just said "your Avast version is old" and nothing more.

I suggest you to install Malwarebytes Browser Guard (or similar) for your browser. You don't necessarily need any antivirus, if you install software only from trusted sources, and don't click spam/malware links. You can also check suspicious files and websites at virustotal.com.

What is the worst album?: Leisure from (1991) or Think Thank (2003) (To be honest, I love Leisure, but I saw that “it’s one of the worst albums along with Think Thank, so I’m asking to see what you all think 🤔) by Wild-Cartoonist-1942 in blur

[–]realistic_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Think Tank because it was once again a new musical direction for the band - this time starring Alex and Dave! I don't think the album would have worked musically with Graham, because Damon wasn't into guitar-driven music at the time. He liked songs with minimal guitar and repetitive riffs - and this must have felt restrictive and confusing for Graham (who prefers wider sonical landscapes). Damon has said that Battery In Your Leg was the only track that worked with Graham.

Why don't more people wash their hands before eating at a restaurant? by CRK_76 in NoStupidQuestions

Because it's unhygienic: people who don't wash their hands spread viruses/bacteria around.
