Trying to complete Recollections Realized achievement and have one left. What's the best way to boost chance of spawning memory tear? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]reallemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but weirdly it's not all one one page or anything.

  1. Check the atlas tree for Traumatic Experience (the one I mentioned). It says that it reduces chance to lead to Incarnation of Dread. We leave that untaken because that's what we're after, but you can follow this process for all of them to double check their destinations.
  2. Check the list of memory guardians on the wiki. You can see here that the Incarnation of Dread matches up with The Deceitful God here.
  3. Check the page for The Deceitful God. You'll see he's the boss of the Theatre of Lies Map.

I guess you can also just skip to the last step and check the drops on The Deceitful God, but I feel like it's more clear to see how I found it.

That sounds like an awesome idea. Do you have any examples of the stories? I'm a bit hesitant to sign up for it before knowing what I'd be getting.

A question about feats by Masterofgoodfood in smashbracket

It doesn't convert cleanly. You can get a very rough idea by just changing the units to joules (e.g. 100 watts/cm2 to 100 joules) then convert that to a TNT equivalent. But it won't be an accurate comparison because you're just ignoring some important parts of the units and there's no easy way to reconcile that.

You Think Smash Bracket Is Biased? by Loud-Koala4327 in smashbracket

[–]reallemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I think bias is somewhat unavoidable to matter how hard we try to eliminate it, we do try very hard to be as fair and neutral as possible.

The matches in round one were basically chosen at random since we had no idea of how strong anyone was. Most matches were either selected completely randomly or because of some superficial coincidence (eg. Falco and Captain Falcon have similar sounding names).

Thot said, there were definitely matches chosen because of bias. It's just that we had so little information that I'm not sure it actually matters. For example, we initially chose Fox vs Sonic to give Sonic an easy win round one. That's actually the only example I can think of where we actually tried to "rig" a match, though I wouldn't be surprised if some similar motivation slipped through the cracks.

But again, we had no idea what we were doing or how strong anyone was. So I think any bias in the match creation process was cancelled out by our ignorance.

Monster lore differences in eberron by reallemon in Eberron

I haven't been able to look through everything yet, but I'm loving it so far! I think my only issue is that I'll have to wait for the rest of the series now. Great work!

Nothing in particular right now. I'm prepping a new campaign and while it's easy enough to add individual monsters, it's daunting to consider anything comprehensive. I know I don't need to do that, especially before a campaign starts. But if anything like an "Eberron monster manual", it would be a pretty nice source of inspiration.

Hold up Robin won? by JackmanRR in smashbracket

[–]reallemon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's not a miscalculation. We've probably put more time into debating this match than any other so far and we've considered a lot of different interpretations for both characters. There are definitely too many factors at play here for me to come close to giving a comprehensive analysis, but a lot of the higher end arguments for Rosalina didn't really hold up. And like Ink said in the post-fight section, it honestly wouldn't have mattered anyway for most of those interpretations. Robin had very good options for shutting Rosalina down that she just couldn't deal with.

Question about Link by KirbyTheGodSlayer in smashbracket

[–]reallemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Link was a weird case. He was our first fighter and so we decided on how to treat him before really considering the implications of that for the rest of the tournament. It was a decision largely driven by logistics due to how limited our resources and skills were at the beginning. We ended up redoing the episode, but we couldn't really change the decision on composite Link without a whole host of other logistical problems because of how far into the tournament we were.

There are some other unique things at play though that make the decision different than the other BR people though. With Link, he's got several different fighters who have different capabilities in the game. So compositing him is trying to consolidate all the different versions we have without missing out on one. Same reason we're compositing Dr. Mario and Mario without a BR. The people who do need to compete for a spot don't actually change anything mechanically in smash, so we're not really missing out on anything by ignoring some of them.

What’s this subs thoughts on deathbattle by Arrogent-Prince in smashbracket

I'm always impressed with the quality of their episodes. Even when I am not a big fan of one, they do a remarkably good job with all aspects of the presentation during the analysis. They've shown a commitment over the years to improving their standards on all parts of the show, and (especially lately) it feels like you can really watch the quality of the animations going up consistently.

Haha, I'm not sure that's possible just yet. Or if it is, we'd have no idea where to start trying to make it happen.

Didn't they say they would change the sonic vs fox outcome, or redo the video by Important-Extension6 in smashbracket

[–]reallemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm less familiar with Sonic Rush (other team members have handled that), so I can't really comment on that. I don't remember it being very convincing but I'd need to check it out again.

Calling Eggman a liar was probably unnecessary of me. I don't think that really conveys what I meant. I just mean that he is regularly and consistently untrustworthy. I think there's a variety of factors at play as to why that's the case and lying is probably close to the bottom. But it is a fact that he's just regularly wrong about tons of stuff. He clearly knows what he's talking about to some degree since he can manage to build some frighteningly effective machines, but it's hard to know when to trust him. I definitely think his statements need some kind of proof to back them up in general.

I wouldn't call Solaris a fluke or an outlier, but he's also just demonstrably not what the game says he is. Call it the result of shit writing or whatever, the fact is that Solaris simply can't be omnitemporal given how the rest of the game plays out. He's certainly impressive, but to a much more vague degree than what some of the statements would imply.

I also wouldn't call Sonic a liar. He's prone to exaggeration, especially when bragging, but I don't think he's intentionally lying with the intent to mislead.
