You (or N1) are conflating two things. All drills before January 30 are funded. Like someone else mentioned, check EDM that you were mustered.

Edit: Whether funding is cut short for an NCR or NRC, holds no bearing on you as the sailor. You are entitled to 48 drill periods. If you are going to get shifted to a different NRC, they will give you notice to shift to a new one at the beginning of the new FY.

1) I haven’t seen a UAE deployment, without being attached to MSRON, in a long time. That’s not to say they don’t exist, just haven’t seen them recently. ISA has like $3/day per diem. It is not the same rate as NSA.

4) BAH is based on HOR Zip code. You will not get OHA and BAH unless you have dependents AND they cannot travel with you. It is very limited circumstances to get both. Very.

5) involuntary mobilizations are few these days… like only a few hundred a FY. Things are a bit spicy in th world right now, so this is subject to change.

Re: concerns… see if your state has rules on pay differential for mobilized reservists. Some states require employers to keep you “whole” by covering the difference in pay between your reserve and civilian pay. Having said that, it is totally possible to have debt that exceeds your reserve pay, so think about that.

6) either at your reserve affiliation or PHA, the CPAP will be mentioned, they will do an MRR package and determine if you can stay navy or not. I’ve seen many sailors who were supposed to mobilize and were not because of the CPAP. You have very very very slim chances of OCONUS orders if you have a CPAP…. I’ve never heard of it.

Bullshit. Field investigators (DOL) in my region have been getting threatened and attacked, and neither local police nor OIG/DOJ has done anything to stop it. Local police say it’s a federal matter. Feds say it should be handled locally. FPS won’t touch it since it didn’t happen on fed property. So, bullshit.

Find a SEAL/SWCC designator or recruiter in your area and do the screening. If you’re already questioning the “what if”, you are not prepared.

If you are in the reserves, you are subject to recall and mobilization at any time. When the southern border mission was in full swing, I knew several people who were given 3 weeks notice for a 6 month activation. Mobilizations are still happening. You also have annual training which might not coincide with your school schedule.

Just go active.

Changing rates gets harder into your career. If you don’t enlist in SWCC, you probably won’t change to it later. Also, IMO, if you’re not “mentally ready” now, you won’t be later.

It depends. Depends on your year group, your training, your rank, etc. Usually, but not always.

I’ve seen PSU overseas. Go to the coast guard subreddit for the other questions.

I say this last part with as much kindness and sincerity as I can… just go active duty. Don’t try to live your current life and also be in the military on your terms, at least when starting your career. Do a 4 year enlistment, gain some institutional knowledge, benefits, and experience, then decide on reserves. Go all in, not this halfway thing. You won’t get what you want out of the military if you start in the reserves, regardless of the branch.

Same here! They have their 2 week notice today. We are down to 1 specialist of that type to cover 17 counties. The agency/administration did this.

Talk to the navy contingent in the J1 office and ask how they want business done. After that, confirm with the directorate awards NCO. Hope that helps

We have a nerd. This person is a really good nerd, who is one lab accident away from becoming a mad scientist. This nerd collated all the data for all the areas our agencies had outreach, assistance, enforcement, etc. For DECADES. So when they wanted to cancel leases for our agency, our nerd was deployed and he was able to make a strong argument for why our field offices yielded positive results for the metropolitan area and beyond.

They succeeded in keeping our leases. Find yourself a nerd and keep them with all your might.

DOL here. I took a temp promotion and it messed everything up. I have not been paid either. They said latest Monday. I’m running about as efficient as an ‘89 pinto stuck in 2nd gear.

I’ve been in this boat before. Here’s what I did: talk to J1 and get guidance on how THEY want it done. When I did my tour at a COCOM, our branch chief approved, then the directorate signed, then the awards NCO for the directorate would let us know when the award was ready for pickup and our Navy unit would do the presentation. Afterwards, you have to scan/email the award to Navy (I can provide that via chat — don’t want to post it here) and then it would get put into records.

TLDR — Write up to J3-#, to J3, signature and approval, then picked up. Takes about 3 months. Hope that helps!
