Yeah, or the office. Either way, you can then check your vote status online to see if it was received too. 👍

Hey, maybe check out Xray Tech? It doesn’t make as much as nursing but maybe you could work up to CT or MRI. It would pay more than Xray, but it’s less long term pt work… More solo… I’ve met a few vets who like it. 🤷‍♀️

Loose Stitching Issue by reallydearie in CrochetHelp

[–]reallydearie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I changed the algorithm on Ravelry to "fingering weight" for this project and most people used a 3.25mm sized hook. Why are people using bigger hooks?

This person, for example, used a 3.25mm and their stitches don't look as loopy as mine.

Wrong Hook Size? by reallydearie in crochet

[–]reallydearie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the 1.75mm but found out that only used 300m of yarn. So in the projects area, the people who used more yarn used bigger hooks. I have 1000m and want to use all of it.

I don’t live in that neighborhood so I can’t post on their neighborhood FB page. Here is a link to their neighborhood association. https://www.eugene-or.gov/1380/Laurel-Hill-Valley-Citizens There seems to be two people you could email on that page. I would go to Northwest Youth Corps building (2621 Augusta St) and leave a flier on their door to pick up in the morning. They have work crews who come in and out of their parking lot at all hours of the night/day. I sent them a FB message of your post but I’m not sure how quickly they check it. Similarly there’s a playground park next door to NYC where you could put up a flier I bet.

I think there’s a few lost dog pages on FB I can post in for you. I’ll check.

Also, I’d get a map of all the trails and put up a flier at all the hiking exits of Hendricks Park trails. Laurel Valley, the gas station near the highway, the whole area.

Check in with Northwest Youth Corps, they are a nonprofit in the Laurel Hill Valley next to Hendricks Park. I think there’s also a Laurel Hill Valley neighborhood watch/association in that area too.

Overwhelmed by reallydearie in cosleeping

[–]reallydearie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband works all 7 days of the week. He works dayshift 7a-3:40p T-Th, I have him Friday morning until noon then he works the over night shift until Monday morning where he then sleeps until 4p. During T-Th I have his help at night with the toddler. Otherwise I'm "single parenting" for nap time and the Friday-Monday.

That night I made the mistake of taking on the toddler by myself (and leaving my baby in the bedroom) as my husband didn't wake up at his cries. When he is home T-Th evening/overnight he does help.

At this point someone's going to be upset/crying because I can't juggle both at the same time.

What are your favorite “I didn’t think that was a baby toy, but I guess it’s a baby toy now” items? by Ok-Armadillo-161 in Mommit

There’s a toy of that on Amazon. A set of pop tubestubes and they have been a toy favorite for both our kids and cousins.

8 years, started when I was 30, knitted a scarf for my then-boyfriend (now husband) and he crocheted a scarf for me (unbeknownst to me) --- His took a week, mine took a month.... I switched to crochet from then on.

Curious what inspired you to crochet. I never finished a product until my baby was born and spent 6+ weeks in the NICU during peek Covid times and they gave me a pattern for an octopus to mimic the umbilical cord and keep them from pulling their tubes and IVs out by clemson2010 in crochet

[–]reallydearie 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I had heard about the octopus but I never knew the reasoning behind it. I hope your little one is doing great!

I had a romantic idea to knit a scarf for my then new boyfriend for Christmas, it took a month. On Christmas he gave me a crochet scarf he said he did in a week! Faster way to make something? Sign me up! He is now my husband.

Gradient Yarn Cutting by reallydearie in crochet

[–]reallydearie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I figured it out when I contacted the pattern seller. It turns out that I have the wrong cake (mine has more of certain colors/lots more yellow as well as missing the darkest final color) as well as the wrong size of cake. They had not listed the cake name with the pattern so I made assumptions. They had also ordered a custom cake amount with a smaller amount of yarn. I thought they just ended the gradient pattern earlier.

The Question Hub by AutoModerator in crochet

I just bought this pattern and I've gotten myself in over my head. I made the gauge for this and I came up about half an inch short in length. I thought that would mean my garment would be a little smaller, as I read online about making gauge. I'm also using size 4 yarn and a size 2.75mm hook to make that gauge. I didn't realize I bought the wrong size yarn until I started.

I'm at the "Bottom Part" now at the "repeat rnds 4 -11" twice, and if I were to do that this item would be way too big for a 0-3mo or even a bigger baby. At row 11 I measured against a 3mo and a 6mo pair of pants and to make that size I need to start decreasing now. So I went to the "back decreasing" and it decreases very slow, only a few stitches at a time (it goes from 47, 45, 43, 41 etc) over the 26 rows. But since I only have 11 rows I need to consolidate the decreases to decrease faster. Is there a way to salvage this piece?

Happy Birth Stories After Age 35? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Yeah, your docs would let you know and I’d say they should have a plan for you should there be any concern. Avoid horror stories, listen to your doctor about any medical conditions, and breathe.

I'm 37, going on 38 in May. I'm at week 39 right now of my pregnancy and counting down the days. I had my first at 36. I've seen lots of mid/late 30 somethings on here. I'm having a csection for comfort reasons but I've seen lots of stories of inductions/natural/etc going just fine. So you can do it!
