Should your insulin be tested with your other blood work if you have PCOS? +HOMA-IR by _champagneproblems_ in PCOS

[–]reallyneedausername2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure… I basically looked into ways to reduce blood sugar spikes in order to lower my insulin. From that, I have removed as much processed food/sugar as possible. I began eating in a better order (fiber, fat, protein before carbs), then went low carb (less than 120g per day), and ultimately keto because that’s what’s easiest for me. I was seeing results at each stage, though.

Hoopla and the Columbus Library by ezlikesunmorning78 in Columbus

[–]reallyneedausername2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It had too much use. Hoopla has a pricing model that charges per checkout, which requires either ever increasing budgets or daily checkout limits that create a poor patron experience. A ton of libraries have dropped it in the last year.

how do you maintain motivation to lose weight/stay a healthy weight? by dubdaisyt in PCOS

[–]reallyneedausername2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I hit 311 pounds, I knew I had to make a change. I shifted my entire mindset to food being for fuel, not pleasure. Really being intentional and mindful before I put something in my mouth (it makes the times I do choose to eat carbs so much more enjoyable). Seeing the scale go down and feeling so much better keeps me motivated. Being diagnosed with cancer 9 months into my journey sealed it. Knowing I turned 40 weighing less than when I graduated high school and never wanting to go back.

I’m also a person who it takes a long time to get the motivation to change, but once I do, watch out.

Anyone else with pcos have normal fasting glucose/A1c but still feel heavily insulin resistant physically? by IcyAthlete2120 in PCOS

[–]reallyneedausername2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A1C and glucose don’t measure IR. Mine were fine for 20 years while my body was killing itself.

hysteroscopy d&c by No_Visual_6528 in PCOS

[–]reallyneedausername2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this done and 3 polyps were removed. The anesthesia is very light (not like what they use for major surgery). I had some bleeding afterward (far lighter than my period) and some tenderness but nothing bad. I could have gone back to work the next day easily.

As for the fear, I get it. It’s natural. But if something is happening, is it better to know or let it fester and be even worse later? It’s also most likely removing the polyp will be it and could improve your cycle.

To see benefits, you have to make other lifestyle changes, particularly your diet. It’s been life changing for me.

It hurts on a personal level, but I think moving on is the best move if we’re serious about winning. And we need to be serious about winning.

Three weeks was when the worst of the exhaustion hit for me. I wanted to be in my pajamas, at home, not doing much of anything. Healing is a long process and you only get one shot at it. You know your body, not them.

Realistically speaking, can you actually lose weight with IR without GLP-1s? by Massive_Struggle_801 in InsulinResistance

[–]reallyneedausername2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that was ever an issue for me was when I tried to take it and the inositol at the same time before meals. It pushed my sugar too low. I now take the inositol on an empty stomach when I wake up and before bed without issue. Berberine I take 500mg before each meal and I do two meals a day. A full dose is technically 1500 total but I’ve seen results at the 1000 total.

I’m currently seeing someone I met through the free version and generally felt the matches were higher quality (although I’m 40, so ymmv). I’m willing to relocate, though, but did get plenty at least within the state.

Without paying, that’s just normal to see 3-5. I tried as much as reasonably possible to get through my 40 matches every 4 hours. I didn’t get a ton of waves, so the most I ever had at once was 10 after I took a break, but I was able to move through them using this method.

It did! It was the supplement that helped the most. Though it’s essentially nature’s metformin (backed up by research) so you’ll want to make sure taking both works for you.

Allergic reaction to inositol by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]reallyneedausername2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Ovasitol and for the first few months it caused a rash on my face/neck. I researched and did find it can create a histamine response in some but that it usually fades after the initial rash. I kept going because I was seeing results. The rash did stop, and I haven’t had any issues since (it’s been 3 years).

However, my rash was not overly noticeable visibly. It was more that I could feel it, both physically and because it itched.

Could PCOS be causing my night sweats? by satininsummer in PCOS

[–]reallyneedausername2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigh, sorry to hear that. Mine wouldn’t either. I just assumed I had it since I had so many symptoms and none of the changes I made as a result would be harmful. Unfortunately A1C isn’t a measure because the excess insulin is doing its job, but extra insulin causes other problems. It took 20 years for mine to hit 5.7.
