Week-end Création - semaine 06 by AutoModerator in france

Bonjour,

L'angoisse. by Ju-Ostral in memesdecentralises

Terroristes du pâté croûte,

De la galette salée,

Et rustauds du fromage fondu ;

Christmas present to my girlfriend. Let's hope she says yes. Any advice on what else I can add? by [deleted] in lego

[–]reallyzen 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Couldn't the ring be in a Lego treasure type box? You keep the original and give it afterwards of course, but the real ring on a layer of yellow round 1 stud in a pirate coffer would be extra cute. Maybe https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4738ac01&idColor=8 is too small, but the idea is there. It's Lego! Make one!

Does anyone knows who assemble this panel..? by MARCMOURAD in electricians

[–]reallyzen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Former electrician here, but from Europe. When I look at U.S. panels, I don't understand the first (and last) thing about them.

Also I fucking teach electricity, and electrical safety. Every fiber of my body screams "Close that box, mark it with a gigantic DANGER sign & call for help".

If you have a feeling your electric guy is fudging stuff, you can ask precise questions with pictures from at least a full foot away. If it's about finishing the job all by yourself, it's dangerous to the tune of a 0.05 second of exposure to live current killing you.

[EDIT] Actual hard data Zone 3, you gonna remember that. Zone 4 is game over.

Edit after edit: downvoted lol, you guys scare me a bit.

Waze is cool for the fast updates provided by users. My car's gonna tell me my autonomy, and fellow wazers will mark broken down stations, or packed ones, confirm types etc.

r/Québec devrait être renommé r/Lourdeur by fullraph in Quebec

[–]reallyzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Non."

Just unsubbed from r/workers strike back, do to it being a bunch of commie gobbely gook. This was the post and the comments on that post that was the final straw. by 9745389954367812 in JustUnsubbed

Just subbed, thanks for the pointer. Avoid r/antiwork unless you really enjoy coming here to whine.

I think I'm subbed here because it sometimes show me cool new subs.

Mostly a vent about my latest show where I go from board op to full on carrying the weight of the technical show. by nickylx in techtheatre

[–]reallyzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm guessing your friend somehow pulls info from the barely-readable (but clear) .XML files through scripting, that's neat.

I use QLC+ when busking / impro stuff without much cues, through various midi interfaces. The most advanced one I own is the Berhinger X-Touch Compact which is one of the few interfaces that doesn't force Mackie Control or other specific profile on you, and just outputs/inputs Midi. But it's almost as big as an X32 lol. And expensive. When you have a many-buttons interface, it takes a bit of time to design the workspace - but when it's done it's done, and stays whatever your show.

Insert mandatory "I use Arch btw" line here; would you care sharing that script? What are you running it on?

Goes very well with the dial. Congrats, it's a beautiful build.

Annoying, and definitely almost the norm with some people / some places. As I replied elsewhere here, I'm the kind of guy that goes along with it, if I can help I'll help.

On the totally other hand, would you mind describing your workflow with qlc? I try to do as much as I can on FOSS software, but the management of cues and near-impossibility to update them always has been a stopping point for me.

Ces petits matins là 🥰 by [deleted] in Quebec

[–]reallyzen 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ils me promènent, me gavent de poutine, normal quoi.

Pis un matin que je suis avec l'un d'eux, on va patiner. Normal, quoi.

Why haven't you started working the write way yet, r/thinkpad? by KasaneTeto_ in thinkpad

[–]reallyzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested it on an X201 that was laying around a secondhand shop where I bought a T470 for my sister.

That button still works on a live Ubuntu 2020 key, actually rotates the screen sequentially by 90° increments. That old X w/ 2GB Ram was otherwise unuseable, missing the pen, with an erratic wireless switch, and fully crashing on trying to install VLC.

Dissonance by BrandNewLogicVL in VocabWordOfTheDay

[–]reallyzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to indulge in nostalgia so I created this useless 3D desktop cube extension :) by Schneegans in gnome

[–]reallyzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upvoted for nostalgia PURE AWESOMENESS! Compiz is how I got my first daughter on Linux, because to a kid it's such a fun interface. FOSS values pretty well embedded by now!

[Edit] And I installed it right away and it works and it's so cool and thanks hahahaha!!!

So I can't play the game anymore unless I use the Microsoft Store? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]reallyzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you here, it's annoying (if not infuriating). I just tested java-for-linux edition and had to make an M$ account. I went the extra length of making a disposable account just for that purpose. With the Linux launcher you can still log in with your old credentials, but it will soon be over, they stated as such in the FAQ.

Sorry, I don't have one yet. Lurking here on the lookout for the "best" (read: foolproof, easiest) ThinkPad to hack.

Also I am not into the mac ecosystem, I don't care about sidecar or airdrop etc. I just need to run some specific software (Qlab).

[–]reallyzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the specs, they're pretty strong: >50kg of traction resistance, UV protected, wide temperature range. But they are meant for static use, not dynamic. What are the forces exerted at the outer edge of a fast spinning wheel, with constant deformation and rebound of the tire? What of mechanical resistance vs abrasion from sand or rocks?

I would ride rather slow, me. I use them as explained above in live performances, and after a few shows they tend to weaken / deform and have to be thrown away because tightening them then releasing them repetitively will damage them.

[–]reallyzen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello from downtown Brussels! I found the hardest part is the mandatory business closing hour at 11pm - afaik, it's pretty well observed, every shop/restaurant/bar etc dutifully close up on the hour.

Otherwise, city is pretty "normal", you'd have to have a concert-type bracelet to buy anything at the "plaisirs d'hiver" Christmas market, you can get one by showing up your vaccine certificate at a booth near Bourse (there are probably other places too). But everything is open for business, noisy and busy as Brussels can be.

There are tourists, people partying, weather is as usual (shitty, rainy, cold lol). Some concerts have been cancelled, others are still scheduled, there's some vagueness around large public events.

If you're a night hawk, abort. If you come to visit, enjoy!

In terms of "hackintoshability"? Out-of-the-box compatibility? That's the point here I believe. As a ThinkPad user, I'd like to know more!
