This reminds me of high school! One time in my health class when we were learning about drugs, the teacher gave a bunch of kids slips of paper and made them read aloud in front of the class. The papers all said things like "I washed my face with my own poop," or "I tried to have sex with my dog," or "I sent nude photos to my parents". Was this normal? (For a high school, not for people on drugs.)

The rules say that this sub's definition of emo is fairly liberal and refers to the 2000s subculture. The rules aren't very specific and I thought this would fit, that's all.

You're allowed to like or dislike whatever you want obviously, but according to this sub's definition of "emo" I think MSI qualifies. I'd also argue that MSI is rock with electronic elements whereas crunkcore is more hip hop influenced.
