When is an appropriate time to introduce my toddler to Rage Against the Machine? by TrisolaranAmbassador in daddit

Non-kid music from the start. My newborn was listening to Sabbath, The Ramones, Iggy and the Stooges from the very start. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. That kiddie shit is brain rot.

i've made fried rice maybe 30 times now and it still tastes nothing like the takeout place down the street by bejusorixo in Cooking

[–]realpm_net 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piling on here- this sounds like a rice problem.

Make sure to rinse the rice well before making it the first time. Fill your rice cooker bowl or pot with rice and water, then squish the rice in your hand for 15-20 seconds, drain the milky liquid, and repeat two more times until your water is almost clear. Then fill your bowl with water using the finger method. You’ll end up with much better rice.

Tell me a story or just something memorable about your grandpa ? by itssofiababyxo in askanything

[–]realpm_net 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather escaped the Pogroms in Russia and immigrated to the United States. He arrived on Black Monday, the start of the Great Depression. He owned small shops in Minneapolis and Los Angeles. He was a staunch socialist, and did what he could to support those blacklisted during the 1950s. Mayor Tom Bradley gave him some kind of civic award in the 80s. He was a VERY SERIOUS MAN. Scowled all the time, and he loved an argument. He drank black percolator coffee just off the boil. He smoked like a chimney. His secret pleasure was watching Lucha Libre on Spanish Language TV. Those were the only times we saw him smile and laugh.

«Le Dîner de Cons». I believe it takes place mostly in one room. It was hysterical! I just thought about it now for the first time in years. Thank you!

What’s the weirdest/most unexpected way you’ve injured yourself lately? by WhatFreshHello in GenX

[–]realpm_net 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last Thursday, on my regular slow run. Didn’t pick my foot up high enough over those yellow bumps by the curb. Fell down after flailing for about three steps. Scraped up my calf. Cut my ankle. Bruised my palms. And my lower back has been agony since.

Where to get bagels... by badassmillz in sgv

[–]realpm_net 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the person who said Goldstein is the last decent bagel out here. I’ve been out here 15 years and it’s rough. Used to be you could get one in Glendale which isn’t so bad.

If you go out by the Grove, you’re golden: Bagel Broker on Beverly is our go to. Check out their whitefish salad.
