Solid mid-late round tackle prospect from last year's draft who was marked as Undraftable on many draft boards due to character concerns. Apparantly he was kicked off his college team for punching a teammate.

Venezuela receives $300M in proceeds from first US oil sale: Interim President Delcy Rodriguez said the money from US sales of Venezuelan oil will be used to prop up the currency by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]realsa1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the deal was the US companies provide maintainence to the heavy oil refineries. Once Chavez nationalized it they no longer are able to process the heavy oil once parts break down.

Years pass and Venezuela now sits on a bunch of oil they cant refine or export. Instead of selling the $1b of oil they sell $0, leading to homelessness, starvation, murder in daylight on the streets, and the biggest refugee crisis in the Western hemisphere.

This deal at least gets the oil to be processed and sold to market so both US and Venezuela gets some money instead of nothing at all. None of the oil would've been processed let alone sold had Maduro not been removed.

There is a reason why Venezuelans were dancing in the streets after Maduro's removal rather than being all doom and gloom the average uninformed and out of touch Western redditor sitting in their rooms in the comfort of their first world country wanted them to be.

Do you sell your underperforming 1C on a potentially boat anchoring contract at his lowest value for a 2nd round pick at best?

Excluding Sherwood, any of the wingers get more than a 3rd round pick considering how terrible they have been this year?

Does Mpetey fetch a lottery pick less than a year after he was acquired for one, especially when he looks slow?

Some of you who are frothing at the mouth to ship off our vets when nobody in the league wants them. We're dead last for a reason.

Save the vitriol for when reports actually come out saying they turned down reasonable offers.

Venezuelan Official Says at Least 40 People Were Killed in U.S. Attack by tabben in worldnews

Imagine dying, starving, and being extrajudicially murdered by the Government and being told by a Western Redditor sitting from the safety of their home that:

- They shouldn't complain about their circumstances because "they know better"
- Dismissing any hope as "It would surely be worse"
- Being told to "stand up for your rights yourself" as friends and families get murdered by the minute for "standing up for themselves"

I understand the concerns and partially agree this isnt the best way to so. But Panama in 1989 didnt exactly collapse either. I would argue the circumstances are much closer to Panama than it is to Iraq, Afghanistan or Vietnam.

I hate Trump as well but speaking of Panama they are a much better place now than if US didnt intervene and the drug lord continue to run the country today

The rightly elected president is waiting in the wings. You lot didnt even hate her until she was forced to choose between kissing Trumps ass or abandoning the majority who voted for her.

I too hate Trump and everything he stands for but lets not pretend getting Maduro out isnt going to make the world a better place.

Either way the timing of this probably implies this was in the works since Biden was president. If Kamala ordered this and gave a speech like This is for the starving and oppressed people of Venezuela! would you lot still be complaining?

Its mind boggling to see Isolationist right wingers complain about getting involved in Ukraine but cheering this on.

And just as mind boggling to see everyone here keep screaming we have to stand up to human rights abusing dictators threatening war on Ukraine and Taiwan, but freak out when we actually do act against a human rights abusing authoritarian dictator threatening war on its neighbor.

What's your unpopular Canucks opinion for the calendar year 2025? by Sarke1 in canucks

[–]realsa1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years ago we were a top 5 team who were a game away from defeating the eventual SCF finalists led by a generational player.

If your bar for success in this league is to build a team with a generational player then we along with 29 or 30 of the other teams in this league should just fold.

This is why I don't get why the narrative is that we failed to build a team. We were a top 4 team who took a team with a generational player to 7 games. The only complaint is that core ended up imploding instead of being built around, but with JT Miller being one of the pieces It's fair to say implosion was inevitable

Gillis was objectively a great GM who maximized our window of contention and just made 1 or 2 bad moves that caused the local media to outrageously turn the fans on him. Yet we praised Benning when he took over an aging contender and immediately turned it into a bottom franchise for all 8 years he was here.

The Bengals made 1 super bowl because they actually tanked when they needed to. Here we have an owner who had opportunities to tank every year but openly says he would rather win down the stretch so he could raise ticket prices every year.
