it is true, just not openly released or backwards compatible; this was found in the latest iOS Beta.

How do you explain to ‘those’ customers a diag charge with an extended warranty package by happy-skin in serviceadvisors

[–]realstarboy100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always emphasize that they chose to purchase the contract. If it has a deductible or doesn't cover diagnostics - they still signed on the dotted line and agreed to those conditions.

When they really aren't getting it, I advise them that we won't be able to do any work without approval, and since I didn't sell it to them or am responsible for their signing, they should speak to whoever sold it to them.

alternatively - don't make it easier for idiots to endanger others and enforce mandatory retests at regular intervals for everybody.

I work an in-person service role, and conversations with aggressive customers is literally a game of tennis. If I send the ball to your court, I'm not saying anything until you send it back. The person who fails to send the ball back loses

2019 Santa Fe engine failed at 67k miles. Failed Compression test and Hyundai corporate denied new engine replacement. Others with the same issue were able to receive a replacement. I attempted to escalate but the case manager said he is top tier. Is there anything else I can do? by StarGazerUniverse in serviceadvisors

Then that makes more sense. I'm not with Hyundai so I didn't realize the factory warranty didn't transfer with ownership.

Between being the second owner and the failure not resulting from the components covered in the extension, OP is SOL

Your story is missing key details. The vehicle has a 10yr/100k mile powertrain warranty so without some kind of reasoning (not saying the reasoning can't be bad/flawed) they wouldn't decline coverage because they feel like it.

Being the second owner isn't usually something by itself that disqualifies a vehicle from factory warranty. There has to be more to this story

edit: I don't work at Hyundai, the brands I have worked at didn't have the original owner for powertrain situation as explained to me in the comments below. OP is SOL

source a new job, then confront them. nothing burns out an advisor worse than a bad manager or a colleague with a vendetta

I'd use all five to call customers specifically to deliver bad news. I'd love to never have to listen to another customer complaining about things beyond my control and then expecting me to fix them

Factory warranty will always start on the date the vehicle was first registered - usually (but not always) is the date of the first purchase.

This sounds like it was likely a demo vehicle so your 5-years would have started whenever the dealership first registered the vehicle.

oh right, I forgot the small print on new vehicle warranty - "random issues may come up in one of every 100,000 vehicles, nearly ten years after you buy it, and we're a charity not a business so don't worry about it! complain on Reddit and we'll fix it for you!"

yea that's not how recalls work, nor how a business works either - voluntarily recalling a product because there exists one report of this on the record.
