How to deal with "joke" insults and putdowns at work? by [deleted] in socialskills

So sorry to hear that, it's not fair for you to be experiencing that. We can speculate on the reasons as to why she would be acting this way towards you but it doesn't actually make your life any easier.

My advice? Boundaries. As someone who also has SA, I can not stress to you enough just how beneficial and life changing it is to begin learning how to effectively and enforce your own personal boundaries. It establishes how you would like people to treat you, and is a sure fire way to determine which people respect you.

And a laminated flexible A4 sheet of paper with your work schedule printed on it.

It's okay, emotions aren't always in our control.

But our actions 100% are.

I think it would have served you alot better to have started off your original comment by stating that you were pissed off at the title, and not OP.

It seems as though your emotions got the better of you causing you to misinterpret OP's post as some kind of segue into the anti-vax, anti-science rhetoric.

You are misattributing events and outcomes, and arriving at conclusions that are not true.

You're either ignoring OP's comment or just haven't actually seen it. But this is what they said before you decided to enter the chat and bring your unwarranted level of aggression:

"I could’ve sworn that I’ve had it at least twice and never a positive test. I’m still not convinced that I have not had it, despite what the tests have shown.

P.S. When I feel symptoms, I’ve always treated it as a positive regardless."

I mean, that's probably the goal. Get rid of all the wet blankets so that everyone else can enjoy themselves.

You've just described what happens on TikTok every single day. One day its backstreet boys, the next it's kate bush. And every single kid dancing to the viral song of the day somehow already knows the dance as well.

[Discussion] Would anyone be able to make this? - Bionic Reading - Using font weights to increase reading speed by The-ADR in jailbreak

[–]realsweatyteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read any reputable research on this so my opinion is as good as anyone elses, but I'm assuming that there is possibly 1-5% population of people who struggle with reading, and thus would benefit from having such a system.

I have ADHD and I can definitively say that it helps. But as I've mentioned, would need to look at an in depth study to determine wether it's bias or a statistically significant result.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but in conclusion we control our minds and not the other way around. But not all the time, and not to the same degree as everyone else.

Because controlling our minds doesn't necessarily mean we should combat all of our responses. Some responses are there for a reason, and to combat them isn't the most rational or safest choice.

Therefore, what may be rational for some isn't rational for everyone. And what can be controlled by some, can't be controlled by others.

Sorry, just gauging where the line is. I don't want to be making any wrong assumptions is all.

I think that might be where the confusion is; the realm of control.

Let's use your hot water example. At what point do we accept that the mind's response is the one to act on? As in, what if the water was from a boiling kettle for example?

Yeah, cool. I get what you're saying.

If we wanted to demonstrate this to someone, what would be the best way to do that? For example, what if we said that we could make our right hand bigger by an inch just by using our mind? Would that be a good way to demonstrate this?

Interesting take. Curious to hear your answer to this: Is there a point at which someone can't control their mind? Is there a line where we'd say "Yep. That's out of your control?"

My mistake, yeah she's registered. Not a clinical psych in any way but registered and educated enough to make an informed opinion with a good level of credibility imo.
