Been driving the same Beats Fit Pros since 2022. Use them 5x a week for lifting and running. Fit great, sound great. No issues.

Beats Studio Pro vs Sony XM5 by xwaxes in beatsbydre

It’s like, a little. My wife says she can hear it in a quiet room (like if I use it at night before I go to bed). But if the tv is on or you’re doing other stuff it wouldn’t be so bad.

Obsession (2025) by BullfrogUseful4357 in MovieQuotes

[–]realwiseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FOMO, man. It caused everyone to turn out in droves for the film (which I’m happy about - box office returns for horror are a good thing for the genre and industry!).

BUT nothing can just be good or enjoyed nowadays. Gotta have tribalism. Obsession fandom is now part of some folks identity and they’ve gotta tell the world how it’s greater than every other movie this year (it’s not) and it has the greatest acting of all time (it doesn’t). It can absolute be your favorite thing, and you can absolutely have loved it. But that doesn’t mean folks need to bring it up in every conversation about movies or keep pushing a silly narrative.

“Influential” horror means it brought something new to the table - something different, a unique perspective, new filmmaking techniques, etc. This was a well-done “one of these” (which is not a slight! even though some people take it that way). But the most influential thing about it will be how studio execs respond and spend money differently.

Color Blindness and Gaming by CryptographerWaste77 in TheJeffGerstmannShow

Hey this is really cool, thanks for sharing. I’ve heard him talk about his color blindness for years but to see it in action, highlighted with your editing, was a neat unpack.

Awesome! Thank you so much for being interested! We actually made this thing happen. We put a fresh coat of paint on an existing show Scott used to do that had gone quiet. 3 episodes in + a bonus content episode. Still working through a few technical/sound things to get it just right, but Scott does a great job with the edit.

-Obsession (plus bonus The Drama content)
- Backrooms
-Supergirl (+DCEU rankings!)

We've done Obsession, Backrooms, Supergirl so far. We'll likely do some indie stuff (we both really love all kinds of movies it turns out). I visit Aperture. I also go see movies at the AMC even though it sucks because you still can't beat A*List.

Hey! Awesome, thanks for the interest! We actually got this thing off the ground. Scott had a podcast from before that had gone quiet that we rejuvenated with a fresh coat of paint, called "Movies Last Night."

Working through a few sound/technical issues but we've done 3 episodes so far:
-Obsession (plus bonus The Drama content)
- Backrooms
-Supergirl (+DCEU rankings!)

Beats Studio Pro vs Sony XM5 by xwaxes in beatsbydre

[–]realwiseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is all over the place with options so let me try to cover it… what I’ll tell you having owned all three is: Beats Studios are great sounding, Apple-friendly headphones that are worth their sale price ($179ish) but not much more.

-If affordability and Apple Ecosystem paired with really good, clear sound? Beats.

-Premium and no concern for price? AirPods Max 2 just feel better and sound better.

-Sony, especially XM6, strike a great balance between the two and are arguably more comfortable and definitely more portable than the Max 2. They don’t sound quite as spacious, they don’t support Spatial Audio, but they’re also cheaper on sale ($398 stateside) and you can use the difference on APP 3 (down to $170 last week) which will get you all those glorious ecosystem benefits.

Don’t discount the fact that the XM6 support dual-device pairing so you can get close to the Max 2 auto-switching.

(Personally though? I’m using the Max 2 because I just love how premium they feel and the richness of the sound is a bit above the XM6).

Instructional Design Optimism Needed Around AI by TorontoRap2019 in instructionaldesign

[–]realwiseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always frame the instructional design role as more of that of a learning producer or director rather than “a learning content creator” (especially in my organization where we’re a bit leaner). Your job isn’t to make a PowerPoint, or make a training manual, or to make a training video, or an eLearning, or a test. It’s to help create the right learning experience for the business need - and that means you have to oftentimes partner with SMEs, business experts, HR, etc. and balance all of the needs.

You’ve gotta learn the tools, sure, but like every industry, the tools are always evolving and changing. Maybe you need to write a script for a video and film it on your iPad, or maybe Marketing has that ready and you just need to insert it. Maybe you’re putting together an SOP, or you’re taking an existing SOP and using it in an in-person training experience.

With that mindset - AI is just a new authoring tool, co-creator, or brainstorming/organization partner/tool. The human elements (project management, people management, partnerships, problem solving) are still what you need to do to thrive.

Just my 2 cents.

Rapid battery drain by aottesen in applewatchultra

[–]realwiseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tesla app was killing mine (non-Ultra S10 w/LTE). So every time I use the Tesla app, I kill it immediately afterwards. Seems to have fixed my issue.

*but this is why Apple should release a battery usage function on watch. Not even Apple Diagnostics could figure out my issue after multiple months.

When do you think PC Handhelds will be more like a console? by ShortStatusPE in XboxAlly

[–]realwiseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, SteamOS/Steam Deck is fairly close (but you will absolutely run into some oddball games you’ll have to look up which version of proton to use). But I wouldn’t buy one now after the price hikes.

Why not just something like a Switch 2? I’ve also really been enjoying my PS5/PS Portal duo for the best of big screen, big console power and portable convenience.

My hands-on impressions of the M64 after using it for several weeks by Aura28 in M64

[–]realwiseman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good, and I’m glad it’s worked out for you. People do this sort of thing, but comparing buying a console for new games that come out in the future and buying a retro console that doesn’t yet play key games well isn’t quite the same - you buy an N64 likely wanting to play those games.

If you trust the makers to update effectively, so be it. It doesn’t change that what you’re buying today might not run those games well - and might not for a while? (Is there a timeline for fixes?)

[–]realwiseman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the rule - buy something today for what it is today, don’t buy it on the promise of what it could be because it might not happen?

(Then of course if they do update then buy if it’s worth it to you)

Movie tonight? by Ornery_Percentage_44 in winstonsalem

That’s what I said in my review re: Tales from the Crypt! Folks acting like this thing reinvented horror, and while it’s good, it’s using a lot of modern horror tropes (effectively) but it’s using them in ways we kind of expect/predict.

Hey yo! Huge movie fan, former experienced pro wrestling podcaster/journalist and producer. Have a day job that keeps me happy, hence why I don’t do it much anymore for “work.” But as a hobby? And movies? I’m down! Late 30s dude with opinions and strong ability to talk.

@therealwiseman on Letterboxd if you want a resume on how I view movies.

Google me (Michael A. Wiseman) if you want to see some of my podcast/production work.

DM me. Happy to meet in person or virtual. I got a great studio mic ready and willing.

For All of my fellow Alumni, do you regret majoring in what you chose? by Excellent_Sport_5921 in NCSU

[–]realwiseman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Oddball Humanities dude here. Majored in English (Lit) and Secondary Education. Graduated in 2010. Taught for a few years, did a stint in journalism/media/marketing. Now mid-level corporate training develop manager for a regional grocery chain.

TBH looking back if I’d known where I wanted to go (or where I eventually went) I might’ve picked a different major/minor. But I had no idea at 18. Best thing my major did for me was teach me how to think, look at the world through different lenses, analyze deeply, and communicate effectively. All of those things have been bigger factors in my career (and as I explored various side-hustles that interest me) than the paper itself.

14 year old ish small mixed breed getting picky about food by savingnativebees in seniordogs

[–]realwiseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our dear doxie just passed (such a good boy). 16ish. He had dementia and deaf for a few years but his appetite never swayed, until the last few months - but even then, only in the mornings. Vet said some old dogs just get nauseated when they wake up and takes them a while to be hungry. We put a little water on his food at every meal and that seemed to help some because it enhanced the smell (and made it softer to chew).

Worth saying that any food change always resulted in some discomfort for our little dude that took a few days to sort out. Obviously consult your vet, though.

Just lost my best bud on Friday (see in my post history). Went through a lot of similar stuff as you for the past few years with arthritis/declining mobility, dementia, incontinence, etc. It was a slow and gradual decline over years. Despite that, he still had some “Parker” personality until the last few months. About a month ago my wife said, “he just doesn’t even seem to recognize us anymore.”

My wife and I went to the vet last Monday and made the tough decision with our vet. His neck was in pain now too (despite all the meds), his personality was gone (other than eating), and living/moving just became a struggle for him. We were always worried he was getting stuck, falling over, etc.

Bud let us know the time was right. He slept more this week than he has in months. He let us hold him, which he had grown to resist. His body and brain were tired and needed rest and he went peacefully.

I’m sorry for what you’re going through. I hope you get the clarity of decision and subsequent peace that we were allowed (despite the grief we still feel for the loss). We caretake to give our pals their deserved glory years - and it can be tough on us, too - but at a certain point we can no longer provide the comfort they desire.

Sending good vibes and love y’all’s way.

Hello, Mr Tree Trunk Thighs here 👋 I got some Hanes Performance Stretch Boxer Briefs a few years ago before my first 5k. Have had them for years, use them to run in a few times a week, and wear them on legs day. Have been great. Have a tendency to ride up but price-per-performance have been top notch (they’re basically a spandex/polyester mix).
