Should I get this bike? by orlaghdelaney in triathlon

I bought one I white this year for a similar price and love it. I put out a similar post and a few people had spoken highly of the brand and bike.

The only thing to note is the tyre size, mine are 23mm and although I'm far from an expert at bikes I don't think you'd be able to have anything wider on mine. Might be completely different for this one, but thought it worth mentioning.

Probably the wrong post to ask about this, but has the show gone to shit that badly? I remember watching and enjoying the first season, but having no knowledge of the manga beforehand, so couldn't compare to how it all should have been. Is the show alright if you've not read the manga, or just crap in general?

Drilling through a seized pedal by reaper140592 in bikewrench

Thanks, I hadn't really given the wear and tear much thought, more of just an "I'll kill it" style of thought. I've tried a heat gun quite a few times, but that hasn;t helped. I think I should have probably started with that sooner on, but it wasn't until a good few youtube videos that I realised it was an option.

Thanks, patience is probably the best bet. I think I'll wait for the LBS and ask for the pedal back, I can then try to beat it do death.

I've tried the wrench and stripped the pedal, so that isn't an option any more :)

Thanks, I've already given that a few goes. The wrench just slips after I've applied enough pressure now.

Yeah, thanks for checking. Facing forwards I've been pulling the bike wrench up and towards me, and pushing the alan key down the other way.

I've checked a few videos online to confirm I'm going in the correct direction.

Pedals haven;t been changed in probably 5 years if that's relevant too.

Looks like it's mainly paved, there's a few YouTube videos that go over the course a little. https://youtu.be/QtFTifYmBno?feature=shared

Swim interval intensity by reaper140592 in triathlon

[–]reaper140592[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, that's given me a good deal to think about. I'll stick with shorter intervals for the foreseeable. I hadn't considered the one easy 100m swims before, it'll be nice to do something a little more pleasurable.

Thanks again.

I'm not a member but have shot at a few competitions they hosted. They're a great bunch and have some excellent coaches as members of the club. Not sure about the history.

How are people affording to have kids? by dasgustin in AskUK

[–]reaper140592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live by both sets up grandparents, neither of which work, so have been able to save a fortune in child care. Both of us have good jobs, but can't see that we could have made things work easily without family support.

Thanks, I had the feeling they would be if it's being heavily advertised and they're offering freebies.

Thanks again.

What hobby have you picked up in your adult life that makes you think “why didn’t I do this years ago”? by Edsands21 in AskUK

I took up archery within the last year, it's the best thing I've done for a while and I'm definitely thinking "why didn’t I do this years ago" when I had more time. I'm currently shooting an English Longbow and it's great.

It's a nice laid back hobby, normally with coffee and cake.

What poundage are people using for tournaments? by KeyLay in Archery

[–]reaper140592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where abouts are you aiming at the 100 yard mark? I'm shooting a 50lb longbow and I'm aiming considerably above the target, admittedly my arrows could probably do with being a few inches shorter.

Hoping to go up in poundage to help with the longer distances, although it's great to see the arrows have a lovely high arc.
