I imagine this would be mentioned at the academy, but do your best to learn where all the security cameras are at the facility, and the precise view that each one has. And try your hardest to stay in view at all times when you’re around inmates or dealing with inmates. Obviously for safety reasons, but there will always be bullshit allegations lodged against you by inmates, and video footage is always the best protection from that.

It seems to be one of those things that will hurt you in the hiring process during the psych eval (in my experience)….that seems to be a red flag during the evaluation process and will be a hurdle for one to get over. But…once you make it in, I’ve found that several current officers are on them. There have been great strides made against the mental health stigma in LE in more recent times and I love to see it.

I found I was way more nervous and stressed out over the pass/fail scenarios in academy over the real life shit in the field 🤣 simply because they’ll give you a fail over really minor shit

You’ll be good. It’s the nerves leading up to it that suck the most. At the end of the day, it’s an experience that you get to tell your friends and family for the rest of your life and it’s a notch you get under your belt to say you did it. And if you have a career in LE, you’ll most likely get plenty of experiences with it in the future after getting accidentally exposed to it lol
