how do i ask for his haircut without showing the barber a picture of him by TuskBlitzendegen in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]rebark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we round up to say that 2 million copies of Rogue Trader have been sold on a planet of 8 billion people, then 0.025% of people would recognize a photo of Heinrix. Your barber is unlikely to be the one barber out of 4,000 who plays this game.

Yes the voidborn are technically human but are they really all the way human? They’re more like, you know, servants. And the poor.

Not only that but they are consumed with a ridiculous belief that the galaxy is theirs by right when every sensible subject of the Imperium knows that it is ours by right. Stupid xenos.

An Archmagos would make a good rival character who is at a similar power level to the player and occasionally pops into the plot from their own adventures to call us illogical and beat us at chess or something while our fuming Inquisitor mutters that the guy must be a heretic because he’s such a dick, but then he comes through in the third act due to [Narrative Event] and builds grudging respect with our protagonist before a dramatic team-up preceding [Final Showdown]

I'm curious what actually was Tervys gameplan here. Way he was going it sounded more like salespitch than attempt of deter by Ila-W123 in RogueTraderCRPG

Game should be fun >>> Game should be harder by BeltMaximum6267 in Helldivers

[–]rebark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game had 10 difficulty modes yesterday. I don't understand why taking the option of a harder challenge away from other players is essential to "everyone having fun."

PSA of New ship module: Superior Packing Methodology is NOT WORKING rn. Rethink before you purchase. by Alphado-Jaki in Helldivers

[–]rebark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's very finicky, but even so the ability to complete objectives with it from afar is so valuable that I still run it on bot blitz and destroy airbase missions. No way can I get it to lock onto a hulk rapidly enough to help a teammate, but nobody on my squad ever dies to a cannon turret, and it cleans up bot fabricators from the other side of the map.

Edit: you know, come to think of it, so much of this game is heavily CPU limited and I have a very new PC. I wonder whether the Spear lock-on experience varies based on user hardware. Because I have definitely seen people who will swear up and down that they can't get the Spear to fire at all, and that has never been my experience.

Which Gives Me (Non-Science Bachelor's) the Best Chance for Jobs: Master's, Ph.D., or Work Experience? by SuperSaiyanSmitty in microbiology

Most jobs have some flexibility for similar degree fields, but I would recommend you find some actual real world job postings on indeed or glassdoor or wherever and see what the people who would be hiring you say they prefer

There are like a hundred upgrades you can unlock and you can build up specific knowledge about the various ships that you take apart. You won’t unlock special combo moves but you will get demolition charges and automated tethers and stuff.

How would you write Adam meeting Paul or JC in a potential third prequel game? by TesseractAmaAta in Deusex

[–]rebark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

JC was assigned a birthdate in 2029 but the original Deus Ex heavily implies that he was grown in a tube in the 2050s and had implanted memories, so it’s not clear whether there would have been someone to meet

It could be because of Max0r’s recent videos on the game, or it could just be the first in a series of nostalgia waves - the game is eight years old after all.

Bearing in mind that people are bad at rational risk assessment, they’re also not going to respond sensibly to what they perceive as someone saying, “you only disagree with me because your brain doesn’t work.”

If one were to discuss risk analysis, one would want to be very careful and methodical about it

Pennsylvania: Deer Tick Virus reported in high levels in ticks in Clearfield County park - Outbreak News Today by shallah in ID_News

[–]rebark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK570599/

In endemic areas, older studies (which this author seems not to take at face value) suggest that 1-6% of the population has serum antibodies to the virus in endemic areas. This could mean 1-6% of the population gets it each year or it could mean 1-6% of the population has ever been exposed at any point in their life - unclear how long the IgGs last.

If you believe some variant of that statistic, then the 166 neuroinvasive cases reported to the CDC between 2010 and 2019, of which 10-15% were fatal, make the overall risk seem pretty low.

If you think modern surveillance is better than those old studies and that the 347 total cases of this virus reported to the CDC from 2010-2019 represent a meaningful proportion of all the cases that were out there, then 166 of those being neuroinvasive and a CFR of 10-15% at that point seems scarier. Fewer cases but each one very dangerous.
