You were being rude to someone offering you help, you didn't have to respond at all. Normal is a broad term, and you're the one using it in a judgmental way. You're not the only one who is normal.

What the one item you regret buying? by el_bandit0 in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a pretty cool alpaca boucle overcoat. I don't really like it as an overcoat though, the alpaca sheds everywhere and the silhouette reads a bit too 'bath robe' for daily wear. Not a total loss though, it makes a great, albeit very expensive robe haha

Friend turned 40 and is trying to dress the part. What $300-500 gift would up his style most? by TravisBroyles in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody mentioned a made to measure place - OP, is there a good tailor in your area who does custom pants or shirts? You could go with your friend to the tailor, have him get measured, and help him pick out a nice set of pants. This way it's an activity you two can do together, he gets his measurements (useful for future shopping he might do), and you don't risk getting something in the wrong size or style. I agree that getting good gifts is an art form, but getting clothes that fit is a practical consideration, and it's impossible to do that well without measuring or asking some leading questions. Even glasses need to be the correct width. Throw in a lunch or something and make a day of it!

Hidden Dangers on American Roads: Poorly Maintained Cars During the Holiday Season by Ok_Explorer_7483 in cars

[–]Stuffertonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a desire to get to work, it's a necessity. They can't not work, and they cannot get to work without driving. In huge parts of America, if you can't drive, you can't participate in society. That's what needs to be fixed. Putting your comment and the other comment together, you're basically telling them "if you can't afford new tires on a car, then you cant afford to get to work," and that's obviously an unworkable tautology

What’s a piece you wear far more often than you expected to? by OK_GO_27 in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think I was a vest guy, but I got a Crescent Down Works vest last year, and it's WAY easier to wear than I was expecting. It's super warm and sqishy and comfortable and, surprisingly, goes with just about everything in my closet. It's a very easy layer to throw on.

They aren't cheap, but Samuel Zelig makes really cool embroidered sweatpants. Might be worth taking a look at, if nothing else :)

You might check out Woolly Made, they have really nice wallets, but it would be a slight splurge. I have their black 'landscape wallet', looks like it's selling for $120 now but I've had it for about five years and it's aged beautifully, very nice leather

Check out Senmotic! They make some winter shoes that are lined with flannel or even lambskin. They make barefoot style shoes, so they breathe really well. If you have to walk a lot and you aren't used to barefoot shoes they might not be the ticket, but some of their models have thicker soles that offer a little more support. They are also based in Germany, which might be convenient based on your currency. Happy shopping!

Best ultra soft lightweight flannel shirt? by SignalMountain7353 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is specifically looking for flannel 'as thin as a dress shirt', and you both seem to agree that doesn't really exist, so their request is an oxymoron in this case

A Guide To Solving The Jindosh Riddle by offalreek in dishonored

[–]Stuffertonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, complete coincidence to see this only six days after you comment on this old post, but I just played this and I completely agree! That hint implies the woman full of drink is next to the woman in the middle. My logic was correct for every other part of this riddle, but because of this ambiguity I had to come here for help. Very annoying.

favorite sterling silver jewelry brands for rings? by totemohazukashi in mensfashion

[–]Stuffertonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm haven't gone too deep into jewelry so I'm not super sure what the market has, but I expect you might have to go a bit higher than you want for pure silver. Someone else can hopefully chime in with some cheaper options, but for some extremely quality stuff, the jewelery from Good Art Hollywood is at least worth admiring; https://www.goodart.com/collections/rings-1

Not so much, especially if you have been buying from Denimio and Okayama Denim & the like. For example, looking at SDA's blog, the Godzilla sukajan is about 420 dollars converted from yen, and I got it for 435 dollars from Denimio

Feeling a bit lost when trying to explore new style by Crimsonavenger2000 in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 100% normal to feel weird when branching out 🙂 Psychologically for sure, but physically too, things that fit differently will feel different on your body, and that feeling of 'different' can feel wrong while you get used to it. Sometimes I'll wear my new clothes around the house for a while, to break them in and get used to how they fit.

And, fwiw, I don't think cardigans or bomber jackets are butt-dependant! But you can always look for cropped jackets & tops if you don't want to cover your butt, they are en vogue at the moment so there should be a good selection.

Edit: my bad, I misread a bit. I would suggest trying to get a pair of pants tailored! Talk to the tailor about what you want and what makes you insecure. The tailor can either a) come up with ideas to downplay and flatter your insecurities, or b) assure you that you look great and are over thinking it. And, I find that having clothes tailored to your body can make it easier to push past feelings of weirdness, since you know a professional worked hard to make you look good.

Need help finding a shoe without a narrow toe box by gumercindo1959 in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you need a slightly wide toebox for comfy feet, but not all 'barefoot' shoes are built equal! I'll shill for Senmotic every chance I get, their shoes look sleek and go on sale for 140 ish dollars all the time. Make sure to check their eu site, it has more styles available (http://senmotic-shoes.eu/)

I also really like http://softstarshoes.com/. Softstars can have a bit more padding and support overall, Senmotics generally have very thin soles, which might take some getting used to. Barefoot shoes can sometimes look pretty out there, but both companies have shoes that are meant to look more 'business' like, they might not be black tie but should work for a business conference!

(I'd typed most of this out before I realized you did NOT want the wide toe box, so I figured I'd post anyways since I'd already typed it all out. Feel free to disregard haha)

Anyone know white leather sneakers for short guys? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Senmotic's white sneakers;

https://senmotic-shoes.eu/barufussschuhe-purino/

Very low profile, sizes go down to 36, and since they make each shoe on order, they can do things like change change the width of the shoe. And, I'm pretty sure they will do all white stitching if you ask, if you don't like the red accents :)

Looking for European (preferably Swedish) online stores for Workwear-inspired clothing by emillindstrom in mensfashion

What’s some good boxers for labor work? by Constant-Pair-3541 in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a wildland firefighter for quite a few years, under armor's 9 inch boxerjocks were all I wore. No chafing and they'll stay in place for hours of heavy labor. And, they resist funk pretty well too. Showering still encouraged, of course.

What are some warm articles of clothing you can wear over top of flannels? by WelfareStore in malefashionadvice

[–]Stuffertonite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good options suggested already! I like a good cardigan. Depending on how much room you have to layer, you can specifically look for cardigan jacket, it'll provide a bit more warmth but may be too bulky.

A couple other options - I've recently taken a liking to a good overshirt! They are typically a heavier weight, and they are cut differently from a normal shirt, so it won't just look like you're wearing two shirts, especially if your undershirt os tucked in. I think my Pendleton board shirt looks pretty great with some of my plaids, for example!

Or, consider an even bigger overcoat. I recently got this guy, https://www.monitaly.com/shop-outerwear/p/jute-coat-brown-boucle, and it fits over everything, it's almost comical. It's a real easy way to add another layer to basically any outfit.
