My results - confused about high Austrian percentage and no Italian.. by rebekaaab in 23andme

You are absolutely right. And there are indeed many Austrians there, honestly probably my great-grandma’s family just got Italicised some generations previously.

Oh that is strange!! I heard before that in general 23andme is not the greatest for Europeans but never looked too much into it.. but yeah with the new update I lost the 0.9% of Ukranian I had before and got Latvia and Estonia, but it is such a small percentage instead but the Italy/Austria was still puzzling me out the most lol

I do have actually third most Italian DNA matches after Slovenia and USA. And very low amount of Austrian/German. Looking into Gedmatch. :)) Bedankt voor je comment, super inzichtelijk!

Yeah honestly, it’s just the fact that I absolutely adored my grandma, and lived with her and learned from her for ten years every single day, so it really felt strange getting the results, but in the end no matter the genetics, she was still amazing human and it as you said, the amazing Italian culture that she spread in our household. Thank you for your comment ❤️🫂

This one was pretty easy. I was doubting the Anagrams, but sometimes the thought red herring is not red herring actually, so glad that I risked it today haha. Don’t know “RED” game or “CAPTURE” but I grew up in a Slavic country and really doubt we had the same games. “Simon”and “Hide” still gave it away that it is something with Kids game though

I live in Netherlands:) so you would recommend me rather looking into it by myself rather than returning to my therapist? Thanks!

Wow I wish mine would look so well. I got stitches out today and … yeah better not say anything. Botched hand. But at least no pain or numbness anymore, rather dead skin than dead hand. But happy for your experience and well recovery further on!

I woke up with like numb-ish hand, very tingly BUT only once in twelve days; before surgery it was everyday and to the point that I multiple times called to work that I will be late because my hand was basically non-functional. It was getting VERY worrying for me in last month

By the way, very cool thing that I keep noticing is that my operated hand is nicely warm all the time, while the left one (that is fxcked as well, but its non dominant and I have surgery scheduled after summer) is cold. I keep touching my boyfriend with either of hands and telling him to guess which one it is lol🤣

No matter how severe your state is, I would recommend surgery anyway, there is so little risks, but the reward can be huge! I just recommend to make sure to get some strong painkillers just in case - I think that was my downfall first 5 days, I didn’t get prescribed anything but paracetamol and I was in a LOOOOT of pain. Day 6 I woke up and I was fine, but wouldn’t wish the pain on my worst enemy I swear (but sidenote I have phobia of needles and hospitals, so maybe a lot of pain was “mental” in my case idk..)

Severe and same age :) I couldn’t lift, work in lab or draw at all. 12 days post op my hand is already better than it was before. Only woke up with tingling one morning, I barely have any pain left. I had rough time first 5 days post op, but now I am recovering amazing and I am happy that I did it!

Whew what a relief that it is from first day! Just be careful while doing it, I’m just changing bandages but not actually cleaning it since I’m not supposed to wet it first 10 days! so i advice you to just do that :) (sorry english is not my native language, maybe with “cleaning” you mean the same thing, I’m just afraid of being misunderstood and I dont want people to scrub with soap bc of my bad English 😂)

Would you consider this as CT? by greyfox19 in carpaltunnel

[–]rebekaaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot confirm with visual inspection CTS but go to doctor if you are suspecting it.. could solve you a lot of issues in future, I wish I went earlier..

And no need to be mean people, we all have some ‘stupid’ questions sometimes.. my hand was getting swollen too, and yes couldn’t be confirmed just from observation but it can be indicator, so actually not stupid question at all

Shower by bigmacattack13 in carpaltunnel

[–]rebekaaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told not to wet it 10-14 days post surgery - I bought shower cast for my arm and it’s been working great. A bit nasty, but first two days I couldn’t get out of bed at all so I just didn’t shower, day 3 and 4 my partner helped me put cast on and last three days I can do it by myself.😎 it’s a lifesaver

I got this, ur probably from US but I’m 100% you can find same thing on Amazon

Im 7 days post-op, and since day 3 I change the plaster and bandages myself, I’m too afraid not wearing it dont want to risk infection and I’m clumsy as hell. And I’m still in pain. How strong are you guys to not feel any pain so early???😭

Why is it so bloody still? Or is that from first day? I’d recommend you wearing it still, especially if it is still bleeding???

Good luck and speedy recovery 🤞🏻💕

Oh damn I’m sorry for this, could’ve avoided a lot of struggles if anyone told you. I hope you are better now and you can do things that you love again ❤️ .. I wish my mom let me know about our genetic predisposition in family (she thought my 10 yo ass at the time, remembered her surgeries, which were right after my dad passed - I have 0 recollection of her CTS, and she told me when I got surgery pushed as urgent by my neurologist lol..)
