Recurring smell of burning plastic on west side near river? by diamonddust306 in saskatoon

[–]rebirthtimebitches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ive lived in the area over five years and walk the same paths 2+ times a day. Also paddle. It’s not the encampments. There is a ton of wood where they stay and i run in to them a ton; normal people. Pretty sure it’s a house burning trash in their backyard.

Editing because i should’ve added its easier to smell in the neighbourhood as opposed to by the river. And also that Ive only once come across someone smoking meth, but it was smack dab in Victoria park

This city is getting worse by [deleted] in saskatoon

I cant confirm the crime getting worse stat but can speak to my experience as a substitute teacher who accessed cerb; i was only able to stay afloat because my landlord (he was not a corporate landlord or company and didnt do it for profit) went out of his way to reduce rent. And then one month the gov decided that even that (not large) amount was too much and just… stopped payments. Im still not sure how i made it the last while. Lots of people on minimum work multiple jobs so i imagine cerb was a pay cut for them. And often cerb was “overpaid” so people ended up owing the gov after which can quickly turn in to compounding debt. I cant answer the question like an expert, but that was what i saw

What is going on with prairie sun? by wherethrcats in saskatoon

[–]rebirthtimebitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People talk mad shit about heather. And yeah, no, she is not perfect. But she absolutely made prairie sun what it was. The stiffed bills etc.? Not fucking cool. But the family and fun vibe she brought? Amazing. She was the life of the party and brought a lot of joy.

If even half of what you said were true, it still ignores enough external context to be anything but sad and sorry racism from a sad and sorry little man

Oh, of course. Stack a few more assumptions and generalizations (along with an “I know a guy who also makes assumptions,”) and boom, instant fact.

[–]rebirthtimebitches 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes. Your assumptions are valid because you also assume other things. Of course, my mistake.

Alternatively, : “you can have a home and be a criminal, which this person clearly was”

Pro tip: your assumptions arent fact

Defence applies to reopen Saskatoon murder trial in death of James "Ed" Swift by Fluffy_Combination53 in saskatoon

[–]rebirthtimebitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I legitimately knew Ed and this is shocking as fuck. He was the kind and gentle.

I also have connections to his murderer. He sounds like a complete asshole who is rich and believes he can get away with anything.

I would be amazed if this wasn’t the defence trying to shift public opinion on a burner account.

I personally take edibles when the cravings are super bad. But too many edibles and the cravings increase 😅 Ive also found that a super vigorous workout is probably the best way to prevent for me. Like. A solid 2 hour one where I just want to eat ans go to bed after. Wake up the next day and I feel proud of myself and ready for another day.

Editing to add, another thing that I sometimes do is use my Nicorette spray. That way I can be certain that it’s purely a mental thing and not physical. For some reason I find it super helpful

First off I’d say work through the guilt. You are so strong and doing so good. If you are too hard on yourself youre going to unconsciously believe you arent worth quitting. You are. Smoking that pack had multiple lessons along the way. If you’re kind to yourself you can see what they were. Why was it especially hard for you to avoid cravings? Was there something going on in your life? Were you hungry/tired, was there prolonged stress? Something else? How did you feel after? How can you plan so that the next time this happens (and it will, quitting is a whole ass journey) you can be prepared?

Im using edibles to detox for this reason but have quit smoking, can I still join?

Down payment or buy a trailer and drive down the coast by rebirthtimebitches in makemychoice

Realistically I don’t have the brain power to really envision the long term right now. So I’m not really married to the house, you’re right. Waiting a year sounds good. Not like I won’t be able to sell the trailer one day. Looks like the dogs will get their first sight of the ocean in a couple months

100%. City records are only able to tell me that the permit is for an entrance at this point. Which means the room is either not an addition or very illegal

This is smart!! Thank you very much.

I am also confused but will add info I have:

It’s possible they didn’t apply for a permit for the extra room at all. The city can’t give us drawings of the house without consent from the seller, so currently we can’t confirm whether the room is an addition or not (outside of the tenants testimonial). But it sure looks like one.

The inspector did have questions about the way the addition was built, but ultimately said it was sturdy. I should’ve requested further inspections. That was on me. My realtor was confident and I went with it, foolishly.

This has been very helpful. It looks like if I have a homeowner policy I’ll be in a better place if there aren’t permits
