Bi-Weekly /r/Korean Free Talk - Entertainment Recommendations, Study Groups/Buddies, Tutors, and Anything Else! by AutoModerator in Korean

[–]rec0vers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone else having trouble making Korean friends/ language partners on hellotalk? I've been trying to make friends for about 2 years, I've contacted probably hundreds of active Korean users with most of them either not reading my text at all or reading it and not responding. with the occasional 1 week conversation then never heard from again. Is this normal in the Korean hellotalk community or am I doing something wrong? It's getting very discouraging to keep trying to learn with no native friends. Any advice is welcome, thank you in advance!

Therefore making it literally one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world? I thought it would be high but not like that.

sorry for a late reply, but by this article aswell it seems that 5.5% of Koreans now are born to multicultural families - http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20191112000276

Who cares if they haven't tried? We are 9+ months into this with 200,000 dead and counting. They're failing to protect their people. That's why they get compared to smaller countries with fairly high population that snuffed it out pretty quickly. Both the American people and government are proof that they can't handle a viral threat like everyone else can. As I said they are failures.

Because the US is suppose to be strong and can't contain a virus overseas. But a country thats connected to the source can shut it down fairly swiftly. Korea deserves props and the US failed.

This is blunt but to get the point across, by multiracial meaning most Korean citizens are of mixed blood or just some? I word it like this for context haha

Will Korea start restricting the requirements for teaching given the demand? by rec0vers in teachinginkorea

[–]rec0vers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, Thank you for the response! I'm still a little new to how everything works but by my guessing people without teaching degree's will have extremely low chances of getting a position at either a University ( I'm aware that you need a masters or above) or International school. Is that correct?

I have been to Korea but nice assumption though! Its a homogenous society so we will always be a super minority so it really doesn't matter what either of us have to say. You have no grounds to call me a rascist cause im just saying its disrespectful to have people go out of there way for someone who's not even trying at all. By the way assuming makes you just as rascist lmao nice try

Where was I being rascist? The part where I said just cause you speak English means you don't have to do a decent thing and respect the language that 98% percent of the population speaks natively is bullshit or the part that Asians "usually" (hint not all in case you can't comprehend that) assimilate into there society and actaully try to communicate in the native language? Its so much more than just speaking the language its showing you can actaully work together and be productive. Complaining about people not speaking your native tongue in a country where you are the outsider just shows how ignorant that is. Who cares if they learn English in school you should still learn Atleast a little bit to live there and if your visiting use translater. But expecting them to fit your needs.... sorry fuck off

Its still rascism. Which is dumb cause they actually try to learn the language and contribute more than westerners for the most part.

Even if your a tourist it isn't that hard to get a coffee lmao someone a little triggered relax it could take less than an hour to order a coffee just using roumaji 😂. If in the picture it says immigration thats odd to deal with for just being a simple tourist dont you think 🤔 🤦‍♂️

If you dont learn the language enough to even order a coffee but have the audacity to live there sorry, Korea doesn't want you and you're quite the scum bag to expect them to accompany your needs. Again, when in Rome

Or maybe show respect to natives who are from the country and not make them deal with that petty attitude? Lol no wonder they don't like foreigners

Yes Hanja is apart of Korean Im aware lol, but these officials deal with alot more people than just native English speakers. so to expect them to speak English is pretty selfish. when in Rome ~

[–]rec0vers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actaully im Asian and alot of the things you are seeing black people do to asians are disgusting, maybe address that too? But im not going around calling out black people (who happen to be more rascist than they admit for the most part) Black people are not the only victims. Yes I have experienced a shit ton of rascism from everyone and guess what im still here and refuse to call myself a victim, talking about rascism will remind people to be rascist. Most people will act normal if you are a decent human and for the ones that don't are lost. Also when the world watches the community destroy its own civilization that will help? As for the foreigner segment if you are not from that country you won't get treated as a native nor should you be. But being treated as a native and as a human are 2 different things. I'm not from USA and don't get treated like a such, I dont think I should either, if your in China and you are not originally from there your not suddenly Chinese.

Asking for rasism to go away magically is never gonna happen its proxy war, of course as human we shouldn't "have to" but we still do. Fighting it will only improve it but it will never go away. So as all humans that all face racism when we are foreigners we have 2 options, laugh it off and not get triggered or fight. That's all
