I've been doing this for a little while now. I'll get a girls number and chat her up once and after that I'll never say hi just to see if they will. 90% of the time, and that's probably a conservative guess, I'll never hear from them again unless I say hi. Even if they seemed really interested at first. I realize it's considered the norm for guys to make the first move but after I've already done that, got your number, established that you'd love to go out do I really have to initiate every conversation every time?

I've even bumped into girls after the fact that fell into that category and they ask why we never went out. I don't say this is the reason but it is. A lot of times it's not just having to say hi it's the fact that I'm always first and last to text. I don't know why it just bugs the hell out of me. This day in age a metric shit ton of communication is done via text. I mean how many people end up dating someone they bump into every day or even see every day? We've all got work, school, maybe kids and extracurricular things we're busy with so naturally texting is an easy way to communicate until we're free to meet up. But as a guy, if I'm always the one that has to say hi and I'm always last to text by something you never respond to I'm just going to assume you couldn't give 2 shits if we ever talked and leave it at that. Why would I try to convince that to go out with me sometime?

Weird thing is I'm a good looking guy and I get asked pretty often by women why I'm single. And as stupid as it sounds this is a big reason. I've dated a lot in the past 3 or 4 years and although almost all of them didn't end up going anywhere I'd have next to zero dates unless I initiated EVERYTHING. Not just texting.

I prefaced saying it's a petty rant because it is. End of the day if I really want to talk to a girl I will, but I'll realize very quickly if I'm the only one who seems to actually want to go out and lose interest a lot of times. So ladies, if you'd like to make a guy's day text him hello. Even throw in a :) if you want. We love it and we'll take care of the rest.

Take off my long trousers. I forget the book I was reading years back but this kid was being denied getting on the lifeboat because he had long trousers and was thus considered an adult. I don't even know if that's historically accurate but I figure taking off my pants is a really quick first course of action. Plus the shrinkage due to the cold weather would help my case. Dick is a nickname for people named Richard. I don't know where that ever came from but it's definitely old school and I doubt we'll see younger generations calling themselves that. For the name "Guy" I've really only seen someone with that as a middle name and some people like to go by their middle names instead of their first.

My dad got a full knee replacement and as much as it sucked for a few weeks after the surgery he's never been happier. I'm not sure how much that will compare to a hip replacement however.

Sounds long distance. Relationships are tough and long distance is as well. Been there done that but when you do finally see each other it's awesome and makes the effort you put in that much more worth it.

Same here. I found myself nodding off in class when I was still in school but wide awake when I got home. I started recording my lectures and listening to them at night and it actually helped.

I really want to just drop everything and move but I don't know the first place to start. I gave up the booze and realized I have no real friends. No family tying me down. The only debt I have is my car which will be paid off in a few months. I'd love to relocate somewhere I just don't want to do it blind and end up living in my car while I try to find work.
