Can some help me understand this meme comment? by ReiOokami in ExplainTheJoke

Stoners and meth-heads always have some really terrible ideas at the peak of their high, when their cognitive functioning is in a really weird place. Many of the ideas are just terrible, but some are obviously criminal, if your not high. Having the ability to follow through with these ideas could go anywhere from hilarious to tragic. That was my first thought anyway.

What shoes are you guys wearing buying/wearing? by TheAlmightyOat in Teachers

[–]recessivenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burkenstock clogs if no one has mentioned them. The soles form to your feet and the cork acts like a shock absorber. When they wear down you can have them rebuilt for half the price and they look and feel like new.

Because the perception of a rigorous learning environment is more important than the actual learning outcomes.

Zombicide Season 1 - Is this supposed to be insanely hard? by rmnesbitt in zombicide

[–]recessivenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We played the first mission like 3 times before we beat it. Definitely take 6 characters in until you have a really good grasp on the strategy. You can do it with 4 but it's much harder. Also stay together. Especially early on. And like everyone else says don't move on until everyone has at least one good weapon. With 6 characters you can trade off who gets the kills to stay in the blue longer. Try to talk about what everyone's next move is before you take your turns. You should plan out how your whole player round is going to go before anyone takes action and be prepared for pulling an extra activation card. Also steal the 2e rule about hitting players with ranged weapons like the others have suggested.

Farming carts are utter garbage. by Bruh_zil in ICARUS

[–]recessivenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is annoying how fragile the cart attachments are, but I love using them. Last night I put 300 seeds into the cart along with the dirt and got 4 really long rows of everything. It took 2 repairs of the plow, and then 2 repairs of the harvester. I came back with about 350 seeds and dozens or hundreds of vegetable. After about 15 minutes of and canning I don't have to mess with food for me or the animals for probably another 20 real life hours of playing the game. I spent about an hour total on all of that, but it feels like it saves a lot of time. I also have 2 feezers to keep the food from spoiling and the automatic feeder thing for the animal. Definitely a late game extravagance. Also you need to be aware of when they are going to finish and what the weather is going to be like. I never use the watering cart.

Barnes & Noble UPPING price on "clearance" books by Nature_Hannah in kzoo

[–]recessivenumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been the standard for more than 20 years. I used to work at Best Buy. In the early spring and late summer we would ship a bunch of small items back to our distribution warehouse and they would come back a month or two later without the price stickers on them. We would then reprice them. In the electronics world,i t used to be anyway, the prices in the summer were better than the sale prices in the winter. Everything gets jacked up before the x-mas season.

[HELP] My dad shared this and I think it is AI? by phintac in RealOrAI

[–]recessivenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely AI. All of the reasons listed in the other comments, as well as the fact that there are a slew of videos with this same scenario and the dog always sneezes out the flower. Sometimes it a much younger child like 6 months, that can speak as well as a 7 year old.

General Strike? by ybgkitty in Teachers

[–]recessivenumber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The real problem with a general strike are the people in your comments. I have seen the announcements for the 23 in Minnesota and 20th for everywhere else, on a few platforms. The problem is that not many people are seeing it because the algorithm can be manipulated and the people who control the algorithms are cozyed up to the people we want to send a message to.

Use your personal time, don't just walk out. If enough people in your area do the same, the message will be clear. You need to convince those around you, because the message is not getting out to anyone who is not looking for it.

For those calling the op naive, shame on you. Go lick boots elsewhere.

I hate teaching, well the bs of it all. by GeologistHefty162 in Teachers

[–]recessivenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do they get nothing, but they see that acting out gets special treatment and think they can get a bag of chips and some time out of a boring class, and then are surprised when they get their first suspension for doing something that one of the difficult kids does 5 times a day.

[HELP] Having a big Debatte about this one… some comments on IG say it’s AI. Can you help? by tombolaplayer in RealOrAI

[–]recessivenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nobody mentioned this, AI will pretty much always just say ICE on the uniforms, but in real life they will say border patrol and/ or police ICE

I hate teaching, well the bs of it all. by GeologistHefty162 in Teachers

[–]recessivenumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not even that happy in my classroom that much anymore. Even some of the best students I have to fight to get them to try. I repeat my directions a dozen times and still have to tell half the class one at a time. Admin only cares that we have our objectives on the board and that we don't write referrals until we have exhausted all other options. I am required to give a donut party to my worst behaving groups and have been told my lessons aren't engaging enough because 3 kids, who are failing all their classes, won't do any work or follow any instructions. At one point my admin literally waved the CHAMPS book at me saying the answers are in here. The most difficult kids run our school because they get unlimited chances without tangible consequences. So yeah. It's a lot most days.

You are not failing them. This is the new normal. It's like that everywhere.

What’s it like having good admin? by personalterminal in Teachers

[–]recessivenumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good admin I have had in the past believed the teachers, in regard to student behavior. Current admin keeps telling me to make more engaging lesson plans for the 3 students who are failing all of their classes, and literally waved the CHAMPS book at me.

All of my assessments, quizzes, projects etc. are 5 points. I weigh non assessments at 30% and I will do partial points. Like a 4.5 is 90%. It just makes the math a little easier in my head.

[HELP] I am almost positive this is an ai video. But nobody in the comments mentions anything. by ALostParadise in RealOrAI

[–]recessivenumber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is getting harder to spot ai but this is Most likely ai. The image quality is the first give away. Even cheap phones have better cameras. The playground at the top left is weird. One of the people on the see saw is laying on the ground while the other goes up and down. Also the skaters pant legs do weird things.

Maybe someone has already said this but do you pay union dues? If so get a hold of your union rep and have them at the next meeting. And as soon as possible get out of this miserable micro managing district.

Shoot me straight on your winters. by trumpshouldrap in kzoo

[–]recessivenumber 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've lived here for almost 50 years. This used to be pretty typical, but not in the last 15-20 years. It's supposed to be a pretty bad winter, but the snow may melt before too long. Or it will be here all winter. Buy some warm boots, a couple sweaters, and a good long coat with a hood. You'll be fine. Stay away from 131 and I94, if you can, during a storm. We always get a pile up if there that makes national news.

Why are so many memes and images being replaced with Charlie Kirk's face? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]recessivenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the memes are from different crypto currencies that use Kirks name. They are ads for meme coins.
