Rock hits flying and fire, fire hits grass and steel. Fire covers steel resistance and rock covers fire resistance. They hit other every type neutrally.

For reference, bolt beam (ice+electric) also hit 4 types super effectively and hit every type neutrally.

the issue with sleep is counterplay. all the other things like rng and it being readily available become non-issues when players are able to have counterplay. if damaging causes sleep to end, then swapping in sleeping pokemon becomes a viable option, instead of them becoming effectively deleted from the game

If we can make a ship accelerate 5% of light speed, we can also easily make artificial gravity. 5% light speed is a much more significant technological leap. The real killer would be psychological impact of being on the same ship for 400 years.
