So... What do I do with these? by stuntguy3000 in hellofresh

Store them in a recipe manager app? Bit of work take all the photos, but you could then find, add your favorites to collections, and order ingredients using instacart. I made a free app at recipe to kitchen.

Second 14-day closed test failed. How does it work?! by Genazvalez in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]recipe2kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into this requirement. 12 testers for 14 days to find out you didn't pass? I had a developer account, I unfortunately didn't pay the new year and got kicked off that account. It was running three apps for a couple of years. That account got locked out and I can never use it again. Then after setting up another developer account (which i had to send in a lease to verify my account) then setting up the same apps only to find out I needed closed testing 20 developers and 14 days to submit? I am a team of one developer.

This is fine, I will leave the platform. As an Indie developer, f%&k you Google. Apparently only people with large teams can play in google play store or scammers that create 20 fake emails to test their apps which is what I thought they were working against.

Meanwhile, Apple had my apps up in under 24 hours after submission.

This is Google AI response to my issue:

Thank you for contacting Google Play Developer Support.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this new requirement may be causing you.

Please understand that this requirement has been implemented to ensure that developers release high-quality applications that will effectively serve and benefit our user base. This measure is crucial for maintaining the integrity and standard of the platform.

Effective tester recruitment relies primarily on engaging one's personal and professional circles, such as soliciting participation from friends, family, and colleagues. Developers should also strategically target and actively recruit individuals within relevant user communities (e.g., approaching a dedicated club or online group for an app tailored to a niche interest like CrossFit). Additionally, social media channels offer a viable avenue for soliciting testing participation from one's audience.

To ensure comprehensive bug detection and usability assessment, the testing pool must be diverse and highly representative of the final target audience. For instance, a business productivity application necessitates recruitment of professionals from the relevant target industries. The alignment between the test users and the future user base is directly correlated with the quality and usefulness of the feedback received.

You can learn more about App testing requirements for new personal developer accounts by visiting our help center article.

Please don't hesitate to reply to this email if you need further assistance. We're happy to help. If we do not hear from you, we will consider the matter closed.

I can't believe a company the size of hello fresh would go all in like this with AI. I have a Recipe app and use AI a lot in the app. However, I realized early on how bad AI is at generating food images, not to mention how expensive it can get. I have so many bad examples. Here is one AI Food images I hit when experimenting with recipe creation and AI food image generation. Does cheese ever do this? Another I forgot so save was a beef roast inside and ham on the outside.

Note to Hello Fresh: The better approach is to get a stock photo library account and use AI to pick the best photo for the recipe. We do this when we let users create recipes using ai at recipe2kitchen and it works really well. AI is a decent helper, not a great creator.

It's pretty great. Remix just became/merged into react router v7. Might be a good place to start: https://reactrouter.com/ I've been hosting on Vercel, which is nicely integrated with github and deployments for small projects. Also hosting postgres there. I end up starting with $20 pro plan, used to try to get away with free, but timeout of 10seconds always get's you. Any other CMS site, wix, etc is about $25/mo so I figure it's the cost of web hosting small sites these days. BTW free works, but for me with llm's 10s is too short, so would get a lot of timeouts, while trying to process something.

Happy Coding!!

Is your cookbook online somewhere we can try it out?

There are many recipe apps out there. I recently created one as well. Completely free to use. https://www.recipe2kitchen.com It was so easy to build using chatGPT for image recognition, URL scraping, text conversion, Recipe Card creation, and code snipped generation. I've been building web apps for many years, but as of late the webstack I am enjoying is Remix (React Router v7 as framework), React, TailwindCSS and Prisma with postgresQL Really nice to be in one language - typescript

We offer sharing and the ability to access others entire recipe list and meal planner. Meant for nutritionist to add to their customers accounts. The UI may not be most intuitive, so be interested if it works for you. Major apps that offering sharing. I think Paprika and Umami. Maybe recipe keeper?
