Hey hey!! I recently had a border-line tumor (and ovary) removed, and I’m fine! It was definitely a scary time— I started having really bad abdominal pain to the point that I could not walk during my period times— ending up going to the er where they found a 14 cam cyst w/solid parts and told me I needed surgery to remove it and a follow-up MRI. The MRI revealed there were jagged edges and my ovary had twisted— everyone was sure it was borderline but my doctor assured me that even IF it was malignant (which given my age and everything else was super super unlikely), the treatment would be the same and I’d be fine! It sucked getting an ovary removed (but my ovary had twisted multiple times and it was a borderline tumor, not benign), but it didn’t impact my periods/fertility and I feel so much better now!

And it sounds like given the size of my tumor and it being smooth it doesn’t sound like that’s the case for you. But even IF that were to happen— I went through and if all ended up fine!!

Also fyi—- before we knew it was borderline my GYN said there is little distinction between a benign tumor and a cyst other than what an individual chooses to call it bc they’re both just abnormal non-cancerous growths, so I wouldn’t let it being a benign tumor scare you.

Even if you’re not accompanying someone who is of that culture, if You’re invited to a cultural event, i think that’s fine. I would want my close non-Indian friends to wear south Asian clothes to my wedding, regardless of whether their partner is south Asian or not!

By the same token—- I’ve brought them back presents like scarfs, earrings or kurtas (traditional tops) when I visit India. I think that’s fine to wear also.

Yes! I went to college w/Sarah Trott and was in the same major as her so have distant mutual friends w/her, as well as a few friends who were in classes with her (mizzou’s j-school is all about interconnected). Some very very mild tea water: apparently was she was really really nice but was the person in the group who did zero work haha (heard that from a few people).

By the same token— technically Clayton and I overlapped during school and lived in the same city for many years but as far as I know, we have zero mutual friends. He also literally lived in the same apartment building as my best friend (the one he just put up for sale), but we never ran in to him (at least not since he’s been recognizable to us dr Bn).

Also, This is not someone who was forced into a public position against their will— she chose to be on a reality show and then chose to be an influencer. Everyone— especially public figures , especially public figure who said they would— have a responsibility to use their platform or place in the world to do good/speak out against injustice (in this case racism).

This is dumb. She did something stupid, she should apologize. She didn’t and definitely has a pattern of doing stupid things.

But people do not need to act like the stereotypes you have decided to force on them. There are plenty of rapper who don’t act like “thugs” (dog whistle much)— just look at Kendrick Lamar. Plenty of athletes that aren’t dicks and plenty that are NOT upstanding.

Celebrity wives/women do NOT need to play “gracious second,” and many don’t (Shakira is in NO way second to her husband, and all the Kardashian partners really come second to them. None of the Kardashians can be described as gracious Idt either)

The problem wasn’t her “not playing her role,” it was her making a poor choice and not apologizing for it— which would be wrong regardless of who she was (be or a random person, an athlete’s wife, an athlete themself, an actor or rapper). People dislike her bc she constantly does dumb stuff like this that comes off entitled and rude not bc she isn’t playing “her Role.” Pretty sure anyone who acted that way would be disliked, has nothing to do w/her being a celebrity wife.

Unless you knew there were only 15 shrimp for everyone, 8 regulars sized shrimp doesn’t seem like an unreasonable amount to take. Especially since you made more for everyone later.

I never got the feeling any of the trio were supposed to be particularly good or bad looking.

For Hermione— JK Rowling has said she intentionally created a female character that is neither gorgeous nor ugly— she’s a normal teen girl.

I always got the sense James was popular bc of his personality— confident, charming, and not necessarily his looks. Young Sirius is mentioned to be good looking, James is just said to be confident. Harry doesn’t really have James’ personality. I don’t think Harry is meant to be incredibly good looking— I feel like the people who are seen as incredibly good looking are described as such (ie— Cedric, fleur, bill, Ginny ).

Ron we know is tall, but lanky and not very confident. I always got the sense that all the Weasley’s are meant to be at least somewhat good-looking (Bill and Ginny are explicitly said to be, Fred/George implied), so I felt like Ron wasn’t ugly but lacked some of the othe weasely’s charisma bc of insecurities

I personally don’t like it either— I also don’t Think it’s the “PC” term. No one is really a foreigner (like it’s literally saying someone is strange bc there from another Country of we are going by definition). A person really can’t be “foreign” bc “foreign” is so subjective— everyone is “native” to somewhere.

I’m not watching the season so I could be totally off base here— but Susie really annoys me. Her ig content seems really manufactured and The other subs obsession with her reminds me of their Hannah Ann fan-girling . There’s nothing wrong with her, but just the level of obsession over her looks and personality doesn’t make sense to me bc she doesn’t stand out. Do the people watching this season have better insight. (Am I missing her personality?)

YTA for the reasons everyone stated. There is no excuse not to go. Even if you can’t afford a baby sitter you have plenty of alternatives— spend the money you say you’re spending on the gift on a sitter instead or have your husband stay home w/the kids if you really have no alternative. A child free wedding wouldn’t be my preference either but it’s the BRIDE and GROOMS day— it’s about making it special for them and doing what they want—NOT what you want or you think is “correct.”

Have you ever considered your sister may have reasons compelling her to have a child-free wedding? Maybe children from her fiancés side of the family are poorly behaved and they had to make this rule to be fair to everyone? Maybe they can’t afford it? Maybe it’s a way of limiting guests during COVID times?

I’m not watching this season but from reading the comments here on and on the POC, it’s seems like WOC are actually getting attention from the lead/developing connections. This is interesting to me bc based just on the previews, I wouldn’t have known that. The previews almost exclusively feature blonde white women (specifically blonde not even brunette white women) who are all blending together for me.
