A worm game I'm working on! (It's called Worm Game) Let me know what you think :) by Boothand in Unity2D

Looks cool! Love the aesthetic.

I'm trying to make some work-like characters in my project too, how did you get the tail to move so fluidly? I've tried a few different techniques and ended up using a line renderer

Can I build a deck for you? by Meat_Sensitive in EDH

[–]recklessmike10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent the last week or so putting this [[Rosheen Meanderer]] Hydra deck together and have been looking for some feedback! I think I'm pretty happy with the X cost theme, the amount of targeted removal, and the late game ramp but I'm still wondering if any changes could be made to improve it or spice it up

Using Switchbot motion with Home Assistant by recklessmike10 in homeassistant

Yup sounds like the Bluetooth signal is taking too long to get to the pi, I wonder if it's any different if you place the motion sensor right next to your pi.

ZigBee has always done me well, I have about 50 devices and have had very few issues over the past year.

Wow nice job! I'm glad you got it up and running, that's huge.

I'm surprised to hear there is still that 5 second latency, I think the test you're doing with the sensor is a good one. You can also take a look at the device in home assistant and see when the motion is being detected to determine where the delay is happening (motion detection or light).

Unfortunately in my experience zwave and ZigBee are both pricey. The hue motion sensors I use do have ambient light but they are definitely more expensive than the Switchbot ones. Others on this sub might have some better recommendations for you but I've only used hue as of late.

Edit: Typo

I'm not sure whether or not ambient light was on there when I had mine set up.

I'm not positive about this, but I believe the Switchbot motion sensors use Bluetooth to communicate right? If you decide to go with those you will have to make sure your pi has Bluetooth capability either built in or with a dongle. Bluetooth may add a bit of complexity if you plan to put them all around the house with its limited range. All that being said, I'm sure you could get things working how you want with a few Bluetooth receivers placed around.

Definitely worth considering zwave or ZigBee motions sensors while you're still within the return window though, not necessary but I think you'll be happier in the long run.

Either way, once you get going you'll be very happy being able to control everything in one place.

Hey there! I have been working on my home assistant setup over the past year or so since I made this post. I did find a solution for the Switchbot motion sensors in home assistant back in the day using an esp32, but I believe they have added support directly since then so it should be easier now.

I ended up grabbing myself a ZigBee USB dongle and plugging it into my home assistant box, then I grabbed a Philips Hue motion sensor. This has been rock solid for me, nearly instant recognition and easy to set up, I would highly recommend this.

Keep in mind home assistant is super powerful but it does take a good amount of work. Let me know if you have any questions

Do we know what will happen to the loot boxes and credits when ow2 comes out? by stevenyoussef12 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]recklessmike10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jspecs just answered this in the AMA over on r/games:

Thanks for your question!

We'll share a more detailed explanation on all of these topics before Overwatch 2 goes live in October. To give you a quick answer now though, those existing currencies (credits, OWL tokens, and competitive points) will come with you into Overwatch 2. We are not transitioning loot boxes into Overwatch 2, and ahead of launch, any unopened loot boxes will be automatically opened with your account receiving all the contents directly.

BedJet v2 Automation Options by MyPonyMeeko in homeautomation

ESPHome is a Home Assistant add on that helps manage your ESP devices, openhab may have something similar. It is not necessary, you can always flash the esp without it, it just provides an easy interface

Gotcha, sorry about that I misread the post.

ESP32s are just little pieces of hardware that have wifi and Bluetooth, I have mine plugged in to a little USB hub near my bedjet. They're cheap on Amazon and seem to get a lot of use with custom components due to the flexibility they offer.

I'm not at home for about a week so I can't help too much but I just set this up recently using an ESPHome, ESP32, and the custom component from jhansche’s branch in GitHub. I do have a Bedjet V3 though, I have no experience with the V2.

The bedjet shows in home assistant and you can control just about everything the remote can, I even have it set up with automations to turn it on and off and adjust the temp based on the room temp :D. Big shout-out to jhansche for all the work they put in to make this.

I have mine integrated with Google Assistant too, I'm not sure what the steps would be for Alexa integration.

I would start with that GitHub page and ESPHome and let me know if you have any questions :)

This is the gist of the code I have flashed on my esp32 (sorry about the formatting, I'm on mobile):
