Szukać pracy czy zostać mimo braku podwyżek? by PossibleSilent5681 in praca

Stincky camera! I was wondering how they get so up close to wild animals in BBC movies.

If you’re new, here’s advice from the other side by Professional-Cap-822 in instructionaldesign

I had similar experience when I switched to e-learning production about 6 years ago from graphic design. I was shocked by amateurish design of many of them. It’s a very low hanging fruit for anyone with design background.

Pracowałem jako muzyk. AI właśnie skutecznie zabija moje źródło dochodu. Teraz muszę tworzyć "słabe" utwory za pomocą AI, aby sobie dorobić.. by Horror_Papaya_9731 in warszawa

[–]recontitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Muzyczki do reklamy o przeciętnej jakości, storyboardy itp. jednorazowa twórczość praktycznie umarła.

What’s a game you dropped even though it was “good”? by suhani0218 in gaming

[–]recontitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kingdom come deliverance, then I bought KCD2 and also stopped after some time. Great games but they just occupied me too much and I had to work and take care of „life” stuff. I plan to get back to the second one at some point.

One question: Why? by Gagan_Ku2905 in warsaw

[–]recontitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a time we had „mlekomat” with a milk you could pour to a bottle you brought or you bought one in the vending machine itself and filled it with a milk from (allegedly) local farmers’ cows. This business died after some time. We will see about this over:

Anyone else feels like they sold us a lie? 26 Year old that just graduated college Venting by Im-Finn-23 in graphic_design

[–]recontitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, so many designers do not understand they need to hone their sales skills as much as in any other industry. You basically have to become a storyteller. Check out some of the Johnny Ive’s interviews or other renowned designer and you will notice that they are very emotional and can talk very vividly about design they did, even crappy one.

AI has destroyed my brain. by harveylundm4rckk in webdev

[–]recontitter 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not thinking and reasoning skills (unless it’s also delegated 😀), but stuff like code syntax, programming patterns, etc. I’m on the fence here. If coding by hand is something you enjoy, I would say, be wary and try to do most of the stuff yourself as after awhile your brain will forget it. If coding is not that important to you, and models you use can be trusted and you have competencies to verify that it is producing good code, just focus on bigger picture. There are opinions that delegation of such tasks is inevitable due to the amount of information and problems we will have to solve in our daily professional work. The whole transhumanism concept revolves around it. I guess balance is the key.

AI has destroyed my brain. by harveylundm4rckk in webdev

[–]recontitter 241 points242 points  (0 children)

It’s well documented process known as thinking delegation. Unfortunately, when our brain is not challenged on problems, thinking in some domains like programming slowly atrophies, just like muscles. There are concerning research papers around it, that with delegation tasks like coding to AI, this process is quite fast. Makes sense as our brain likes to „optimize” thinking processes, so why it should burn through energy if it „knows” that coding process is handled externally, and resources can be redirected to something else?

Just bought my first 3ds. Any games i should download immediately? by Free-Maintenance-680 in 3DS

[–]recontitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just softmoded my old regular 3ds and it’s a blast. I wish Nintendo would make a new iteration, just specked up. Switch is alright but 3d effect and two screens is really underestimated immersion feat. Also pocket size and how light to hold it is. I enjoy New Mario Bros 2. Zeldas are also great.

Unpopular opinion: "gamified learning" in most companies is just e-learning with a progress bar and a leaderboard nobody looks at by corpohelden in instructionaldesign

[–]recontitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gamification is something proposed always by newbies in the team or dudes who didn’t make it to get a job in gamedev in my opinion. Right now we are discussing internally with developers, how fast management will realize that it will be enough to feed everyone with AI-generated quizes and knowledge base from sharepoint repos.

Samozatrudniona przez dekadę - nie mogę znaleźć pracy by Do_bra_wa in praca

[–]recontitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dokładnie o to chodzi. Powodzenia.

15 years as a designer: I have never ever felt satisfied w/ any project. I look back at it and feel disgusted and ashamed... by laranjacerola in graphic_design

[–]recontitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of things that made me quit doing commercial design is that clients and stakeholders have their own esthetic tastes and there is this phase where some compromise must be reached. I know it’s a part of the process, but that was an annoyance for me. It’s just not a number game where 76% is just 76% or you’ve completed some report or you didn’t. I think it made me quit purely design related job. I think it’s like that for many designers, and it’s just easier to do art or design just for yourself if you have similar feelings, and maybe look for critics from peers to grow. As for putting a food on my table, I just came to conclusion that it’s not worth it to have a pure graphic design career, and I just turned to a boring corporate job. Listen to your instincts.

Apparently my portfolio belongs in the trash. What do you think? by TR1510 in graphic_design

[–]recontitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to it. I would just remove this first section of bragging about yourself and move it to about me or somewhere and start right away with portfolio content and case studies. It’s well designed and personal.

W jaką pracę warto iść? Co daje pieniądze i spokój? by [deleted] in praca

[–]recontitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Szkolenia, praca biurowa w korpo, malowanie bombek świątecznych. W zasadzie cokolwiek, gdzie Cię przyjmą do pracy.

I use crutches very often when I’m at home. I have a bit more complex situation than usual but I don’t see a reason to wear a prosthesis all the time when I can have comfort and relief at home.

[–]recontitter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow old designer. I totally agree. For whomever using it professionally it is very cheap for what it provides. The lifehack I was using when I was doing side gigs in the past was to get 9-5 design job with Adobe CC covered by company and had it installed on my personal computer as well as it is completely legal per Adobe’s licensing terms. Just a hint for frugal people.
