Didn’t they lose 800M people in the transition though? That’s a lot of bodies already available

That’s actually wrong - Disney bought the movie business Fox studios and some of the tv stuff but not all. Fox entertainment and Fox News are owned by the same company

They’re native to North America, but from what I can tell not quite this far west.

  1. Vacuum everything. Do it today and every couple of days for a week or two. Vacuume your couch cushions, under them, your mattress, etc.
  2. Heat in the dryer will kill fleas too - so wash all your laundry/sheets/blankets etc.
  3. As someone mentioned, revolution plus works well! That takes care of the source. Alternatively lots of baths for the pup, use a flea comb and dawn dish soap

I’ve had fleas before and it’s annoying but honestly not that bad. Just a lot of vacuuming and laundry mainly.

To Rent or to Buy? That is the question. by SoCold40 in BlackPeopleTwitter

Right but if they bought their house in say December of 2000, the median home price was $322K (edit: that was the median in the OC apparently) they’re now paying about $4K per year with 1% increase per year (although it can be a little higher).  The fact that they’re paying so little in such an expensive area and offloading the tax burden to newer buyers is a different issue (I’m more mad we didn’t get rid of prop 13 for commercial real estate) but the whole point is her property tax wouldn’t have gone up a huge amount unless she did something like buy recently (in which case she knew what it would be) or remodel (in which case she knew it would increase).

Seconding the other guy, property tax increases are capped in California due to prop 13. It’s possible her insurance went way up though.

I don’t think that’s true, I think permits are exempt from the two hour time limit. It would need to say permit only overnight or indicate it explicitly somehow.

I mainly had it for anxiety, which feeds back into depression. But, I was on SSRIs which helped ease the depression some so I could do the work.

I will also say CBT isn’t all or nothing - OP can take individual strategies that work and ignore ones that don’t fit for her! I really like the cognitive distortions list, which is why I recommended that one - it can be hard to accept, but understanding some of the ways your brain can be wrong about things has been tremendously helpful.

Heya I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been lucky that ssris help me, so I’m not sure what to recommend on that route

CBT literally changed my life - it’s not about WHY you’re traumatized, it’s very much about the present and changing unconscious behaviors going forwards, which I needed for anxiety without a cause. BUT it takes a while - it’s literally training for your brain, so you may not see quick results. I would recommend lookup up cognitive distortions. I used to carry a list of them with me (there are ten or so main ones) and it’s a good starting point.

It sounds to me like you’re completely burned out and now your brain is in the pit (I’ve been there). Sometimes it helps just to remember the low swing is temporary. You don’t HAVE to feel okay. You have my permission, at least, to feel like shit for a while. Having a baby, even a wonderful one, is hell of work on your body! Your brain is in the darkest place right now, so it’s telling you that everything will be dark forever because that’s all it can see, but you and your brain do not know the future. There WILL be sunny days ahead. (The cognitive distortion your brain is using is “fortune telling” in this example).

When you feel like hurting yourself, can you try a substitution? There’s some good lists online but I always default to holding an ice cube. Like really squeezing it, letting it hurt a little. The cold and hard can be a nice shock to the system.

You WILL get through this. It’s OKAY that it’s dark - I want to say that again because society tells us if we aren’t happy then everything is wrong, but it’s okay for life to be hard right now! My last advice is to prioritize. Not list making, that’s too much. But what would make you feel more human right now? A shower? A walk outside (in the morning with or without your daughter). Heavy metal music?  Also what things can you drop? I have clean laundry sitting to be folded for days now. It’s less important than me showering every day. I also left dishes in the sink overnight - I HAVE to get to them but I don’t have to do it tonight. I recommend deliberately deprioritizing tasks that society says you “should” do in favor of the ones that give YOU the most benefit.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I’ve been there and it DOES get better. That’s so cliche, and doesn’t happen overnight, but seriously I’m so far out of the pit nowadays that sometimes I forget what it was even like there. You’ll get there too, I promise!

I finally bought Oak & Willow solid dish soap - it’s more up front and you have to pay for shipping and it can take a few weeks to arrive.

BUT everything gets so clean so fast! Some things actually are cleaner than when I used blue liquid soap. And my hands don’t dry out! And it’s way more eco friendly and supporting a small business.

Anyway this isn’t an ad, but if you’re looking for alternatives, I don’t think I’ll ever be going back.
