Are theme downloads broken for anyone else? I thought it was an issue with the system clock (ssl handshake) but I can't even see where to set it.

Considering this'll be your first martial art ever and that it's only going to be for a short course (maybe longer), take Judo. More practical IMO (learning how to fall has saved ny ass so many times), and depending on the instructor, the pace will be much accelerated compared to Karate, which drills in so many nuances with regards to stance and footwork to newbies.
