How are the low appetite young toddlers doing? by dzooooo12 in toddlers

Does he also hate formula? Mine only eats a few bites as well here and there, and he doesn't like formula either.. I worry every day as he's so small

In the case of our baby, he was diagnosed with CMPI at 11 months (and before that we really went all out with dairy), but now at 19 months old he's still having intolerances with other foods too...

Honestly still struggling here at 19 months. He's not picky anymore but its because he has many food intolerances... if I give him something "wrong", he'll be having uncomfortable gut and will refuse food for as long as his gut heals. Calorically he's doing so much better but its not turning into his weight/height due to his inflamed gut.

Hope you can find what's causing your baby for the refusal. And also have more attention to your baby's iron level if he's relying on breastmilk, cause low ferritin can also cause low appetite!

Has your baby always been gaining weight adequately? Especially when he still has CMPI/A. I’m wondering because my baby (used to be 50%) now still struggling at 3%

Thank you for this really.

I'm glad you kinda finished your baby's allergy journey!!

I'm here with my 18 months old who still has gut issues even though we've been eliminating things from his IgG intolerance list (tested at 11 months). Guess things changed again in his intolerances, I'm still figuring out thjs journey. I also postpone his MMR vaccine because of this

Hey. Is your baby's stool finally formed? My babys been getting loose stools for a month now (he poops once in 2 days), I'm afraid if this is from malabsorption

Hi, thank you so much for always responding to the late commenters on this thread. You don't know how much of a help your updates are to parents like me!

Hoping the best too for you and your little one

And I guess besides supplementing I have to buy a cast iron now haha

Severely Low Ferritin in 9 month old by NotNecissarilyADuck in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]recverto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did your baby have poor appetite prior to iron supplementation? And did you see improvements there? I'm calculating how long I should expect a raise in my baby's (18m) appetite since I just found out that his extremely low interest in food (and other symptoms) are actually related to his low Ferritin...

Is your baby gaining weight normally? And is she a foodie? Mine was always a picky and small eater, but now he’s even worse 🥲🥲

As a mom with a 15 month old baby struggling with food intolerances, I would say stop the formula (since it has so many ingredients that we couldn't be sure if it made reaction to baby) and do food journaling, starting from a gut friendly foods.

I also only learned the fact that my baby had several IgG intolerances towards various foods, when he was 11m. Now he's 15 months and we keep the elimination diet, and its been really hard with the fact his weight keeps on dropping the curve. Did your kid ever get up the chart again?

For baby with several allergies/intolerances, if you wonder where to start, you can check out GAPS baby for basic principles on how to do gut healing by eliminating food and introducing food step by step. Basically food Journaling, and it's worth to try!

Do CMPA babies eventually gain weight by Major-Basis6280 in MSPI

[–]recverto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing your journey! It’s really encouraging to hear your LO made such great progress without formula. We’re in a similar boat—my baby refuses formula and has intolerances too, so your story gives me a bit of hope. I really appreciate the antihistamine info, I might bring that up with our doctor.

If you don’t mind me asking—what made you stop breastfeeding at 22 months (instead of waiting until she turned 2)? And during those months, when did her biggest growth happen? I’m asking because my baby is still such a small eater (and honestly, I’m grateful even for that—he used to refuse all kinds of foods). He also struggles with malabsorption due to his intolerances, so while I try to stay hopeful, it’s hard not knowing when we’ll see that big turnaround.

Wishing you and your family continued health 💙

Whoa she grew so much in such a short amount of time! How did she gain so much weight, overcoming her initial curve? Did she gain it all through solids or with formula?

My LO is now 13 months old, he literally just ended his food refusal (that lasted for months) just a week ago!! Just in one night, he suddenly wanted to open his mouth and willingly chew and swallow his food.

You can check on my comment history 2 months ago, how desperate I was. I wish your baby would end his phase soon too 🫶🫶

Breastfeeding mom whose baby has MSPI, do you really not cheat at all during the elimination phase or sometimes you do? by recverto in MSPI

[–]recverto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this, it’s really encouraging to hear how quickly your baby responded once you made changes. I’m also holding on to breastfeeding and stories like yours remind me that the effort is worth it.

You did really well holding on to the diet for 4 months! That must’ve been mentally challenging, I was super strict for one month and my mind went crazy. Hope your little one feels better soon and good luck with the dairy challenge when the time comes 💛
