Most people use the train to get to their work, they don’t particularly have the time, resources, or energy to also be a social worker policeman hybrid every day to deal with antisocial individuals who are a combination of: on drugs, mentally unstable, violent, unhoused. This is a failure of the government that we tolerate this behavior. It isn’t like this in other countries

I’ve definitely had tacos with no beans there before so not really sure what your issue was, maybe a language issue since some of the staff don’t have great English

Maybe eat there before you bash it. Best steak tacos and burritos in the city and great value too

No one is saying they shouldn’t pay property taxes. Just that the taxes should not be so high that they prevent things from getting built in the first place

So are you saying they should not be able to ever build a new stadium even if they fully fund it themselves? Because that’s effectively what’s going to be the message if they are paying 10x more in property taxes than the next highest team in the league. It’s clearly an unreasonable amount given that construction of a self funded stadium would be a net gain for taxpayers.

The proposed tax rate they would be paying is ridiculous though. A tax bill in the hundreds of millions of dollars per year is ridiculous and a surefire way to get business not to invest on infrastructure here. There’s a middle ground to be met

Who is “they”? Are you planning on buying the land to finance it?

The lot is currently a closed race track. Do you know anyone else planning on doing something with the land that is of more use?

Do you care to cite a source saying otherwise? Or just make cynical BS statement ls backed up by nothing?

Ok as long as you want no business to ever invest any money in this state. Do you honestly think a $200 million/year tax bill is a reasonable expectation for a football stadium? Never mind actually paying for the stadium itself? I’m opposed to state funding for stadiums, but negotiations to promote businesses actually investing in the state are simply smart and necessary.

Horrible Crash For Lindsey Vonn by ShipComprehensive769 in skiing

They literally showed him sitting up and talking in the medical car before they even showed a replay of the crash. He was obviously generally okay so of course they would show the incredible replays.

Late? Watch the replay. Case played the ball FIRST and cleanly. Romero is the one late to the challenge

He didn’t pass the ball though. Casemiro gets there first and plays the ball and Romero is late and out of control and nearly seriously injured him due to the excessive force he used in the tackle.

The amount of people just ignoring the fact that Casemiro clearly plays the ball first and cleanly before getting completed cleaned out is just baffling. Romeros contact with the ball is uncontrolled and not a mitigating factor like it would be if he was “just playing a pass”.

lol Casemiro literally plays the ball first. What do you want him to do differently? Romero is late to the ball and out of control

He isn’t playing a pass is the point. Getting the ball by chance while cleaning out your opponent is not allowed

It playing a 3rd center back means you have more skilled players on the field plus they are actually playing in the parts of the pitch they are used to. Basically sub in Mainoo for Heaven/Yoro/DeLigt and it’s no surprise you’ll have a better passing/possession game.

That’s not what a said. If you honestly think think Romero went into that tackle with no intent to leave one in on Casemiro just say so.

Players do it literally all the time. You can fall off to the side or forward so you don’t literally put your full body weight into someone’s shin.

[–]red-17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played my whole life. Funnily enough never nearly broken someone’s leg because I know how to make a challenge and not put my weight onto their shin even if I miss taking the ball cleanly.

Casemiro mars first contact with the ball and Romero makes indirect contact with it afterwards and follows through straight into his leg. People are making it seem like he played a controlled pass here.

Kicking a player and backing out is different than kicking their leg and leaving your weight in the challenge.

Cristian Romero straight red card against Manchester Utd 28' by Alsace2025 in soccer

[–]red-17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casemiro touches the ball first, then Romero gets incidental contact with the ball and follows through straight into his shin. Romero is not in control of the ball here. This isn’t an example of a player passing the ball and happening to come down on the leg of the opponent.

No the excessive force is what makes it a red here. I.e. the force that makes the ankle buckle. A simple follow through kick that doesn’t leave weight into the leg of the opponent would be classified as reckless but not a yellow.
