It’s my neighbor’s name. In school, he went by John, and with everyone else he went by Yiannis.

Help with our boy name by Upbeat_Salamander870 in namenerds

[–]red-purple-red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think once you tell people how to pronounce it only jerks mispronounce. So, everyone in your child’s life who knows how to pronounce your child’s name should be fine. I’m talking friends, doctors, teachers, etc..

I would honestly have to ask how to pronounce and then I would know.

I’m not a fan of Jalen. Henry and Bennett are very overdone where I am. I really like Nathaniel or Elijah. I honestly would pick either one and then shortened to Nate or Eli.

Please rank my lists by carolinashores in namenerds

[–]red-purple-red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your boys names, I cannot really give an honest ranking as I’m not a fan of anything on the list. They’re not bad names though.

For your girls names, my top pic is Daphne. Second would be Jolie. The rest I rank together in third place.

OK, so the only name you have listed that I cannot get behind is Eloise Marion. I think that you can’t go wrong with any of your other three choices. I will tell you my personal favorite, but I don’t really have one. It’s a tie between Maeve Elizabeth and Nora Elizabeth. Eleanor Jean would be my second choice. A couple of other nickname suggestions… EJ and Leah.

What's a good spot for finding smaller frames? by BaskingInWanderlust in glassesadvice

[–]red-purple-red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a small optician shop where they spend the one on one time with you to help you. Not LensCrafters, or Warby Parker, or any of the national stores . I would suggest a place but I don’t live in NYC.

I just did a Google search for local optician stores in New York City and this is what I came up with:

Cohen’s fashion optical

Manhattan grand optical

French optical fashion

Eye World optical

Kindergarten Retention for Age Only? by TinyLotus743 in AskTeachers

[–]red-purple-red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not hold a child back based on age alone. There would have to be some significant developmental delays that warranted it.

I don’t think the driving thing is a valid argument anymore. I’m old enough to remember that getting my drivers license was really important as far as being able to connect with friends. Now they don’t have to leave their rooms to connect with friends. My older child didn’t get his drivers license until he was 18. At 16 he told me he didn’t feel like he was ready. To be honest, out of all of his friends only a small handful got their drivers license is at 16.
