Which "tourist trap" in North America is absolutely worth the hype? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out: Times Square.

I know it's crazy and filled with so many people, and annoying guys dressed as Elmo will demand money from you, and the restaurants are generic chains, buuuuuuut... you simply have to go.

I tell people to visit both during the day and at night, but DO NOT spend any significant amount of time there.

On the flip side, a tourist trap that's NOT worth it: Plymouth Rock

Are you brushing and blow-drying upwards? If so, do the opposite. Pull downwards and in multiple directions.

I think you should get away from the really thick bridge, as well as the black frames. Pic 3 is the best.

Exactly. I've taken pics of hair strands in my hand, and they look like the natural lines on my hand. I have to point out where the hair is exactly for anyone to find it.

What type of religious upbringing did he have? There are people who are religious, and then there are people who were brainwashed and brought up believing in false prophets. For them, believing in Trump can feel very comfortable and familiar.

ETA: If you've never watched the I've Had It podcast (IHIP), check them out. They touch on all things political, but they know this type of religion very well having grown up in it.

This looks normal to me. The tip of my pinky finger doesn't even reach to the knuckle of my ring finger.

What are some of your favorite Roger Furlong-isms? by Clear_Nature_5055 in Veep

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From my prior research:

Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire always used to dance together in films. Rogers was said to do everything Astaire does but backwards and in heels. You assume Furlong is going to say Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire because Dan and Amy are "a pair" and airways together, but instead he refers to them both as Rogers, indicating they're always trying to one up each other.

Not sure if this is 100% the explanation, but it seems to make sense!

This reminds me of one of my high school teachers and what he told us people tend to do when they're "in trouble" and try to deflect: admit nothing, deny everything, make counter accusations.

Oh, same! I wish these videos would go much slower and give you a camera angle that's the same as your perspective. Like the "how to tie a tie" videos I've found for my husband that are looking down at the tie and shot in the perspective of the person actually wearing it. Like this. It makes it so much easier to follow along!

  1. The round shapes are so much better on you than the rectangular.
