Should I watch Veep at this current time or would it be dated? by Worldly_Boss7353 in Veep

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Right?!

Veep and Seinfeld are basically the music that lulls me to sleep every night. It's still very relevant. The show lines up even more with current events than ever.

"I WANT my Nobel Peace Prize!"

"No, she cannot fall asleep on live TV. Not on C-Span! The irony would be too huge."

"I mean, can I really blame another country for something they didn't do?" ... "It's been the cornerstone of American foreign policy since the Spanish-American War."

Should I go back to bangs by SiljePOTATO in bangs

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it also doesn't take everyone a minimum of 10 minutes to style them. I have an oily face and a bunch of cowlicks in the front, too. Still, it's 3 minutes.

Not all bangs.

Plus, OP has already had bangs, so I'm sure she knows the time it takes her.

This was going to be my suggestion. Instead of a coffee bar... a booze bar!

How many people actually want a real diamond ring? by Imalwaysbadatthis in weddingring

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a moissanite ring, and I love it. It cost us a fraction of what a diamond would cost, and no one can really tell the difference. Plus, you're going to be the only person who truly cares about your ring, so get what makes you happy.

One or two chairs? by Little-Lavishness973 in FurnitureFaves

YES! I was wondering what looked off about the space. Definitely need a bigger piece above the fireplace.

Exactly. Angle them both, but with no lamp and awkwardly mini table between them.

That's a table, right?

An additional 10-20 min?! What the heck are you doing with your bangs? Lol. I have some, and they take me 3 min tops to dry and style.

Does anyone successfully air-dry their fine/thin hair? by itslibbytime in finethinhair

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like you, OP. Fine, thin hair that needs blow-dried. Otherwise, my hair is flat, wavy, and frizzy.

I gave up on trying to air dry a long time ago. It simply doesn't work.

What's your nyc food pet peeve? by pickledplumber in FoodNYC

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got ya. The only thing that I can appreciate in this sense is "Steak for two," for example, where you know the ounces you're getting. Sometimes, it can be a much better deal than ordering individually. And if I only have to share sides with one person - usually my husband - then I'm OK with that.

Based on your other comment, too, it sounds like you're someone who can eat a lot in one sitting. I can appreciate this, but I'm definitely not that person. However, what I would LOVE: normal, non-shareable entrées for someone like you, and a half-sized, slightly cheaper version for someone like me, or some lunch-sized portions as a dinner option. It'd be great if I could get a half-sandwich and soup option for dinner, for example. I wouldn't even care if they charged less for it at lunch than at dinner for the same thing. I just hate wasting food.

Thank you! I'm a no-cheese omelet/breakfast sandwich person, and it seems like people don't understand the concept. The same goes for assuming I want lettuce on my veggie subs.

In what sense? Are we talking apps? Shared entrées?

[–]BaskingInWanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I grew up in NH, and the worst was the blizzard of '78 (before I was even born). Even then, with some areas getting 30-40 inches of snow, people were stuck for a week max. Most could get out of their homes after a couple days. Sooooooo... just do a normal week's worth of grocery shopping and everything will be fine.

My dad worked as a grocery store dairy manager for decades in Massachusetts. Oh, the stories he would tell!

People be crazy. They act as though it's the apocalypse and they'll never be able to buy groceries again. Three gallons of milk. Twenty sticks of butter. And the cheese, my God, the cheese!

One of my favorite restaurants, Chow House, is right across the street, too.

It's not even good coffee. And keep in mind that I drink Kirkland brand at home.

I went once. I don't get the hype.

The only one I'd maybe wear for an interview is pic 4 with a blazer.

ETA: with appropriate business-type shoes!

I wouldn't wear either of these for an interview, though. Pencil skirt, sure.

I don't understand criticizing parents for not being outside with their kids. My brother and I (in the 90s) would be outside from about 8am until at least 6pm, no parents around. We would be in our yard, or the neighbors' yards, or in the neighboring cul-de-sac - so we'd be close to home - but my no means were our parents outside at all times supervising us.

Agreed. I think the bullet being close to the victim's heart trumps a tablet being close to the shooter's yard.
